How long is a police background check certificate valid to use for the K-3, IR-1/CR-1 process? My wife already had her check to hopefully have things ready, but I read on another thread, that they expire.

Thanks for the help.

I am pretty sure it´s valid for 90 days. I´ll have to get my federal one again.

It depends on the country you're gettting them from.

In Brazil, they expire within 90 days.

Thanks for all the help guys. My wife is from Iran, so looking at the website, it seems the police report is good for 6 months. Thanks so much for the info and support. This community really makes waiting for her a lot easier. smile.gif

I called the consulate in Brasil and for the K1 process they said they accept the certificates with a validity of 1 year, even if it says 90 days on the certificate, so you might wanna call your consulate and ask them.

We´re welcome, even if I am the beneficiary. wink.gif
