I agree. I've seen more offensive stuff on the cover of FHM. Not that I was offended but I could see how others would be (about FHM not the baby nursing).

No need to put it on the cover of a magazine. Might as well put a vagina on there with a baby coming out, it's just as natural right?

IMHO, the cover is very tasteful. Beautiful, almost.

It's funny that something like that can beso offensive to some people. I think motherhood needs to regain it's lofty status as it once held. This time around motherhood should not immediatly imply that being a babies mother is the only valid thing in a womans life. Being able to breast feed in public is one good way to ensure that women will not be put back behind closed doors never to come out again until after the child has gone to college. (see June Cleaver, see Mrs. Robinson)
Womans body parts should cease to be such a horror for people. We have them ...OMG!!!
As for the picture, I think it's done very tastefully, no nipple. That even pacifies the censors!
Living in Grenada, the bus system is a very organized chaos. People get crammed into passenger vans that pass as busses and get shuttled from one part of the island to the next. I can't count how many times a woman sitting next to me quelled a crying baby by feeding on the bus. No passenger has ever complained. Generally we are all pretty happy the baby stopped crying. And I have never seen any of these women shelter us by covering over the baby while feeding. (I would not think any less of anyone who chose to cover up, they re sensible to react to the situation they are in) Breast feeding is just part of life and no one thinks twice about it.
Sue

frankly. I would like if a woman cover up while she fed the baby.. out if respect!
I dont want to see some woman with her top open feeding the baby when I am in a resturaunt eating. I dayum sure dont want my husband having to sit through dinner while some stranger is breast feeding her kid! she can at LEAST cover up! actully I find it nasty!

Question: on the same topic.

Yesterday a mother came in my office with her son - 14, and her other son...about 2...he was running around and stuff...i mean at LEAST two.

Well..she, while talking to me, scoops hm up, ups her shirt, pops out her breast and starts breat feeding him!!!!

WTF? a. i was like..what?
b. isn't the child a bit old?

How would you have reacted? I did nothing...just acted like it was normal - but I felt a bit weird to be hoenst.

I think 14 is definitely too old to be breastfeeding.
babybunny
I had a friend that had a son about he age of 3 she still breast fed. The same situation happend the kid was running around playing and in front of my parents.. the kid ran to my friend and lifted up her top! I was horrified and told my friend that chit has to cease.. go in the room or whatever.

No. That child won't have to spend thousands of dollars on therapy...

Nope...

I think that if the kid can verbally give a well thought feedback on the quality of their food, that kid is too old.

On the cover of "Baby Talk". Hello. What's the problem? On the cover of "Newsweek" the debate changes a bit.
shannon65
does not look sexy in the context of breastfeeding so I don't find it distasteful.
esjessi
I don't understand why Americans are so afraid of the human body. Every breast with a baby attached or flaccid penis on a statue just SCREAMS sexsexsex. Right.

So we put a woman with fake breasts popping out of a top on the cover of Maxim and its called sexy and is expected. We put a babies face having lunch from a breast, the entire PURPOSE of the breast, and people are ticked??? blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif ON a parenting magazine no less... WTF!

Its inappropriate. We know its a natural but doesnt need to be displayed.

How is it inappropriate on the cover of a baby magazine? Baby Talk is a magazine often given out at OB's offices and for moms. Of infants. Presumably women who breastfeed.
