I just talked to a live operator, and she was very nice and helpful. It turns out that my petition is already on its way to Argentina! I was pretty shocked, their automated system kept telling me that they had not receive my case yet. She gave me the following tips:

*Don't wait for a letter from them stating that they've received your case or that it's been forwarded. Unlike NOAs, they don't always send one.

*Do not use their automated system. It is not accurate and doesn't get updated.

Give them a call at 603-334-0700, press 1 for English, then press 5 to speak to a live operator. BE PATIENT. You might not get through the first time, but keep trying. The best time to call is early in the morning before 9 am EST.

Hope this helps someone.

The automated system has never been for those doing K visas. Those doing K visas should always speak to an operator when using the automated number. Those doing CR-1 access the automated messages for updates to their case which are updated.

I'm so happy for you! This will go so fast now....
The same thing happened to me. The automated message didnt even have a record of my petition...then the operator told me it was sent a week ago!

See, I didn't know that about the automated system. Is it stated somewhere and I just missed it?

I didnt realize there was a difference either. I just called and selected 5 and spoke with them. They stated it is in administrative processing and I will be notified when it is forwarded. My letter was dated July 10.

18 days there and counting.

I think Hector hates me right now because I keep nagging him to death about all the stuff that needs to get done. This is the most stressful phase for me because I can't control it laughing.gif

Good thing I read this thread! My fiance got our letter today saying that the NVC had received our case. I asked him when the letter was dated and he told me, July 26.

So I get him to phone to see what the status of our case was...I know, it seems early, but you never know right? And the lady told my fiance that it had been sent to Montreal on July 25! laughing.gif I'm glad we didn't have to wait at the NVC long...heck, it was there and gone before we even knew it had arrived! kicking.gif

hello guys... this may be a stupid question but please bear with me. i got my NOA2 in the mail today july 28 but it was approved july 24. i wish i came across this thread earlier. so here goes, it states in the letter to call NVC from 8am - 645 pm eastern time but doesnt say if it is only m-f. does that mean that they are open on weekends as well. after reading your posts i got excited. hihih...

From their site:

"An automated recorded message system can answer many of these inquiries 24 hours a day, seven days a week (603 334-0700). Operators are available to respond to more difficult inquiries from 7:30 AM to 12:30 AM (EST) Monday through Friday. Status of case information and access to an operator can only be provided by entering your NVC case number or CIS receipt number on a touch-tone telephone."

Congratulations on your approval! NVC's automated phone system is open all the time, 24 hours a day where one can get information about the case status, if they haev NVC case number or USCIS receipt number. But, the operator service is available from 8 a.m. to midnight, eastern time, Monday thru Friday. If anyone wants to speak with an operator live about the case status, then they can take advantage of the above-mentioned operator service. Again, one will need a NVC case number or USCIS receipt number.
