So, up until now, everything had been going pretty smoothly for my fiance visa. A little hold-up with IMBRA but I got my approval, it flew through the NVC and was forwarded to Naples on the 13th of July. Today comes the bad news. My fiance recieved and email from consulate in Naples after he emailed them looking to see if they had received the case, and they wrote that the case had been SENT BACK to the NVC at their request and we should contact the NVC for more information.

Oh, I contacted the NVC and the guy I was talking to was as confused as I. No, they had not requested that our case be sent back, we were after the IMBRA fiasco, we had already done the RFE with the extra information. No, the case was not there. He wanted to know when the case was sent back, but of course the email my fiance received was one sentence long and gave no details. Calling the Consulate in Naples has proven to be impossible. I've emailed and I get a nice automated response saying that it will take about 2 weeks, to get a real email from them. This week I had started wedding plans because I felt as though I had some idea when I would acutally be having a wedding. Any suggestions on how I should deal with this would be greatly appreciated. I'm terrified that my case is going to get lost somewhere.

Hi! My fiance' and I recently went through Naples, so maybe I can at least offer some insight into how to contact them. I dont know if you tried to call the 81 number, which is: 39 081 583 8111 when you call, you will get a bunch of options and different departments. Select either option 6 or 7 and when someone picks up, explain that you have a very important visa issue to discuss with the visa office and that you tried to fax and e-mail and call other numbers. If you sound really distraught, they will likely transfer you to the visa office, where you can talk directly with someone there. It might take a few tries, but if you sound upset enough, it usually works if you're persistant.

The people at the Naples consulate are very nice and friendly once you're actually there or communicating with them, BUT they're also extremely sloooow and they make lots of mistakes and don't work carefully (they misspelled my name on my fiance's visa rolleyes.gif)

Also, they may answer your e-mail with a real response sooner than two weeks. I got that same e-mail and they offered me a real response after 4 days.

Good luck! I'm sorry I can't offer any advice regarding the whereabouts of your petition, but you did the right thing by calling the NVC -- it's also possible that it hasn't arrived at the NVC yet, or that it's there, but hasn't been accounted for yet; try not to think that it's completely lost! I'm sure the people at Naples DID make an error in sending your petition back to the US.

Good luck!
