I got the visa yellow sealed envelop with several paper outside. There is A-number on the paper. Will that number be my SSN number? Thank you!

No, you'll have to apply for an SSN once you get to the U.S. Your A number is your alien registration number, through the Dept. of Homeland Security.

I'll let someone with more green card knowledge answer this, to be sure, but I do think your A number will be on your green card, yes.

'twould be nice if they did use A# for SSN (or in the case of Canucks, port over the SIN maybe--of course, I guess that might cause lots of issues as there is high chance of porting a duplicate).
