My fiancee just recently sent packet #3 (July 08, 2006) to the Guangzhou Embassy. I would like to start proceedings on adopting her 11 year daughter as soon as possible. Anyone know any details on this? When can I actually start the adoption process and how would I go about this?

Thanks,

Keith,

You might start here if you plan to adopt the girl while she's still in China http://travel.state.gov/family/adoption/co...ountry_365.html

Or start talking to a family lawyer in your area about adoption laws in your state.

You really need to talk to an adoption agency / lawyer. The rules around international and domestic adoption are different, plus every state has different laws.

I think that it might be best to wait till after we get married to adopt our daughter, this may be the easiest and fastest route to take.
