Hi i just want to know how long for us to petition my 22 yr old son. I am a LPR now trough a petition but since my son is over 21 they have'nt allowed him to go with us. I went to a lawyer for an advice and he said that my son could be here in a year. I just want to verify if this is true. He said that that the government created a law about it. I also want to know how long is the process, and is there other way for him to be here early. thanks

How do you figure 5 years? Priority date for unmarried sons and daughters over 21 of LPR for UK is Sep 96, that's over 10 years.

I would be very leery of any lawyer that told you this. It is pretty much common knowledge that a visa number for the son of an LPR is several years, and depends on what country.

I would read the USCIS website and look under their FAQs to convince yourself, and then present this to your lawyer.

I was wondering that as well, which is why I posted the official link, not exact because it looks backwards, but as good as you can get.

i know dats why i asked. The lawyer that i talked is pretty popular lawyer though. i paid a lot to the lawyer for my son to be here early. he said in approximately 6 months to one year he'll be here. 2 months had past already and all i got from him yet is a receipt that USCIS received the i-130 application. So any suggestions on what to do?

Ask the lawyer.
