A couple told me that I should write my state governor and ask him/her to write to the California Service Center to help me expedite my petition. Does this really help? Are there any other ways to help expedite the petition WITHOUT applying for a K-3?

With all due respect, you only started in May. If you start freaking out now, you won't have any hair whatsoever over the next few months!!! Trust me, if there were some way to expedite a petition after less than 2 months, someone would have found it and broadcasted it by now.

I don't mean to sound harsh. I'm just dramatic. Good luck!

Hi, Well I feel as if it is already. I've only spent barely over a month in person, with my husband, and of that time, it is not consecutive time. I'm ready to just be married, and be with my husband for real. Did you file for a K-3 after filing for your I-130? and if so, why did you choose that route, and do you think I should apply for a K-3, or wait it out, for the immigrant visa for my husband?
MrsWhizz
I initially filed for the K3 with both the I-130 & the I-129f. However, some wonderful (i'm trying to be polite) delays have occured and our CR1 is moving a bit faster so I have just complied with the instructions coming my way. I still have my fingers crossed that the K3 will come through then he can fly back to UK to complete the CR1. In light of all of this, my thoughts to you would be to spend the extra $170 for the K3 and take the chance. As far as I'm concerned, time with my husband is worth anything I can give. Although, you should plan on the timing for CR1.....meaning...longer either way you go!

I hope that makes sense.

What is your reason to expedite?

Why not? Why not try everything and anything to help my husband get here more quickly? It's worth a try. This couple said that's what they did. Just curious if anyone else has tried this, or heard of it, or how it would work. But besides my sanity and emotional well being, there is no "major" reason to expedite..I'm not dying if that's what your asking....

My govenor here in IL said he could not expediate the process for me to make it faster. You could aslo make an appotment to talk to someone their and go over all paper work. You could then ask face to face that might help. Be patient and why expedite? Give your reason!

You have to have an emergency situation in order to have your case expedited. Each case is viewed differently and it is upto the CSC Director. I don't have the fax number. But I am sure, someone does. There is no appealing, if the expedition is not granted. You can do it by yourself by faxing to CSC a letter with your signature and any documents that can bolster your case. You do not need your governor's help. But, again, you have to have an emergency situation.

What would be classified as an "emergency"? Would being pregnant help? (I'm not pregnant, i'm just asking.)

Immigration is a federal issue. A State Governor is powerless in these matters and has no influence over federal issues. Contact your Congressman or US Senator if anyone. Right now you have no problenm that needs to be resolved.

The alternative is to be realistic and settle in for a one year process, or however long it takes US-Brazil couples. This endevour takes a lot of homework, and estimating the time involved is the most important task. Otherwise, you'll worry and wait, go on fruitless quests, and give yourself hives, when you could have spent the time being relaxed and productive.

Welcome to the waiting room. There's coffee and donuts on the table. If you need something stronger, the Canadians have good beer.

andrea&roberto,

One reason why not is that your case will be pulled out of the queue while the request to expedite is being considered, possibly causing the request to be counter-productive if denied.

In the circumstances that you present, a letter from your state's governor will not help.
