Ahlan
I want to welcome everyone going through the Middle East and Egypt!
This is the New Version of Yalla Middle East due to VJ software upgrade our Old Yalla Middle East is now closed and archived.
(version 2.0 can be found here:
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=907)I made this new thread for all of us going through the Middle East Embassies including Egypt, and for people who are just starting their process. We don't have just one place where we can come and share our experiences. We are spread all over Vj, in Foreign Embassy, in DCF and others.
Feel free to share experiences, congratulate people, vent frustrations at the system, and life in general. Don't be afraid to be honest with your posts because 9 out 10 times someone is going to be there to help you, vent with you, be sad with you, and most of all be happy with you.
Angel
For all you new people who wander in looking for information about the Embassy in Amman or the Embassy in Egypt or another place. Here are two links to the closed yalla middle east and anyone fighting the embassy in amman. There is a wealth of information in those two links about Jordan in particular. Also it was just a great thread for all us who are going through the immigration process.
I'm sad our old thread was closed because it was such a great place to come and vent or come and tell happy or sad news. If you ever get a chance to read them please do, or are bored and waiting for your interview or news from the embassies. You will see how all of us coped during this period in our lives and how we all gave each other emotional support.. It was like a lifetime movie: the drama, the humor, the sadness, the anger, the hope..the hopelessness... I can go on and on, but it’s best to read it yourself because that thread rocked!!!

Yeah, was wondering that myself. What does pinned mean?

Jul 20 2006, 11:25 AM
I'm guessing that the last thread was getting too long and unwieldy, so it was locked and this new one created. If I remember correctly, some friends who are mods on other boards say that if a thread gets too long, it makes it hard to go through and edit things and respond to reports.

Jul 20 2006, 01:23 PM
Ohh well, we will start again. I asked to get it unpinned because nobody was posting but I guess he didn't want to
Anyways anyone start saving documents for lifting conditions? I thought every 6 months save some things like utility bills, phone bill, and etc..that way won't have too much paper work.
Other than that. Life's been good. We both are working and saving and enjoying our time together. Miss visiting Jordan though especially when I talk to my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. My mother-in-law always wants me to go visit and of course I wish I could. Maybe the end of Ramadan we might consider it.
Hope everyone else is doing great!

It is in the site update section that he closed all the larger threads because they were slowing the site down. Some he re-made for us and others he didn't but he gave them permission to remake them.

My life update---- I was in a car accident! Two cars collided and BOTH spun into me. My poor 2003 Cavalier is in bad shape.

Neither driver had a drivers license, and the one that was the 'contributing factor' had no insurance.

So, now I have to get a rental car and get mine fixed. The entire driver's side is crunched.
I am ok, alhamdulillah, just shaken up. Besides that, nothin much here.

Oh My Goodness! I am glad you are ok!!!! I was in a similar situation, the guy that caused the accident had to fix mine and the other person's car. It was just one of those situations where you just couldn't avoid it you basically just had to sit there and watch I was stopped at the intersection waiting for this car to go by when this other guy decided to run a stop sign....scary!

Geez Jackie, I'm sorry to hear of your accident - alhamdoulillah you are ok and hopefully someone will provided some restitution for the dent in your wallet!!! I hope your car gets repaired soon - and please pay attention to any little aches or pains that spring up... take care of them asap. Might I suggest a long soak in a hot bath w/ a couple of cups of dead sea salts or epsom salts... really helps the achy muscles one might have after impact. Good luck!

Jackie.. so glad that you're alright.. you can get a new car but you cant get new health!!
please take it easy and even if you're feeling OK please go visit the doctor.. who knows what will happen..
I got into a car accident in 2000 and didn't get terrible symptoms of slipped disc until 2005... but since I did go through PT in 2000 for the discs, you never know what will happen later on..

Jackie glad to hear that your sore but okay. I am sorry to hear that you had the mishap with the uninsured driver and both without licenses. Your insurance should cover your car if you had full coverage; and then they will sue the driver or drivers to try and recoup the cost from them. Good luck.

JACQUE!! YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE IN CAR ACCIDENTS!!!
I'm glad you're ok and hope it all works out with insurance and stuff.
Noor and I are getting ready to go to Oklahoma again from Tuesday, the 25th thru Friday or Sat that week. It's supposed to only be a 5.5 hr drive but with my experience in getting lost everywhere I go....it should take around 8 hours

lol Either way it should be a lot of fun!!

I took my car to the body shop that my insurance recommended. They took pictures and will have the estimate ready in about one week. Then the parts have to be ordered. So it looks like I will be driving around in a crashed car for a few weeks! I have to pay the rental car then my insurance will reimburse me.
The other drivers were ticketed. The one with no headlights that caused the accident was ticketed for no lights, no drivers license and no insurance. The driver that pulled in front of her, was ticketed for no license. She is the girlfriend of a police officer, so for insurance, they put 'pending'. Well guess what,,no insurance.
Basically I will be out $500.00 deductible and have to pay the rental car upfront. What a headache.
Thanks again for your kind words. I am grateful no one was seriously injured alhamdulillah.

LISTEN ALL, I SPOKE TO MY HUSBAND IN THE WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING. THE EMBASSY CALLED HIM AND RESCHEDULED HIS INTERVIEW. THEY MOVED IT UP A MONTH AND HIS INTERVIEW IS TOMORROW (WEDNESDAY) JULY 26TH. I DID SEND THEM AN EMAIL LAST WEEK ASKING THEM TO MOVE THE INTERVIEW DATE UP AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT. WELL GUESS WHAT, THEY DID! WE ARE EXCITED, WE ARE NERVOUS.

Glad to hear you're ok. Don't you just despise the fact that uninsured drivers are able to get on the road ?
I was hit by an uninsured driver in the past. My insurance company went after her in court, suing to recoup their losses, as well as to reimburse me for my deductible ($250.)
I used to get little checks from the account they established for restitution -- in installments of about $35 at a time -- until my deductible was repaid.
I have my insurance with USAA and I'm in Texas, so I understand that things may be different in your case, but it's possible that your insurance company might do the same. Wouldn't hurt to call them and ask.

ok another post booster.
my husband had to get his mmr shots for his aos. so we went to the health dept in dec. 2004 and got them. took the card they gave us back to the doctor who did his medical. so she sealed everything up in an envelope for us to turn into immigration.
aos interview a year later. everything is fine except fbi checks....still waiting.
well hassan just had blood tests when he started his new job and they told him that his mmr results were negative and he needed to get the shots. he told them now look...i had these shots for my aos and here is a paper to prove it. they didnt believe him so they gave him another blood test. still negative!!! so he took the card right from the health dept and told them to call them and they will verify he had them. still dont know the outcome of that.
how can this be? wonder if they gave him the wrong shots?
