First, I apologize for the sarcasm that I am about to emote. I mask my pain in low-ball humor at anonlymous others' expense. Some people drink heavily, some journal, I diss. (It is my thing, let it go.)

So if you are an USCIS enabler, who makes apologies for their incompetence and complete disregard for customer service, you will not appreciate this, so spare the suffering you are about to experience and please go find another topic to read.

For the other 99.9% of us , who are fed up, you will love this press release just issued by USCIS, honoring the 25th annivesary of the service centers.

They are so incompetent that they can't even upload the full release.

What a gem!

I especially love the opening paragraph that states, "...USCIS efficiently and securly provides immigration benefits..."

EFFICIENTLY???? Um....I disrespectfully disagree.

Also, it states that they have 5,000 staff working 'around the clock.' Factoring 40+ days of vacation, 4 - 45 minute breaks, lunch hours, meetings and 100 sundry manditory trainings, like, 'How to Show Those in Crazy International Romances Who's Boss'; 'How to Write Cryptic Email Responses,' "Evasion Techniques When Talking to Congressional Case Workers amd 'Get Back to Us in 30 Days - The Immigration Workers' Guide to Career Advancement,' I wonder how many hours said workers are actually spending issuing immigtation benefits - 30 mintues/day tops?

Argh to the A-R-G-H!

What a joke. That 'celebration memo' reminds me of Bush congratulating his cronies on the great job they did in New Orleans after Katrina. blink.gif

Yes, let's not start a politically charged debate wink.gif . You and I were merely submitting into eveidence two other recent examples of our beloved government's record of issuing fluff and pulling PR stunts that are not founded on reality.

(And for the record I am a veteran who served my country honorably and I love it here enough to subject the love of my life to it in the near future. )

Exactly. I definitely didn't mean to steer it towards a poliitcal debate. That's why I added the 'disclaimer' to my 2nd post. smile.gif I haven't seen a lot of the outside world but I think it's safe to say the US is one of if not the best places to live. Not perfect, but nowhere is. I just wish I was able to subject the love of my life to it in the much more near future! wink.gif

Two things here.

1) "Today, the four Service Centers play a critical role in USCIS backlog elimination....." (let me understand this, eliminate backlog...please please tell me when this will start because it seems to be going the wrong way right now.

2) How many people were pulled off our cases in order to write this memo. Not to mention how many days in a room figuring out what to put in it...followed by probably contracting someone to make the message clear, unlike the messages we get.

Sorry, thats my .02 worth of vent

Simply amazing.... And to think they charge us fees for this crappy service...

If USCIS were a business, I would demand a refund.

Press Release

USCIS SERVICE CENTERS CELEBRATE 25 YEARS

(WASHINGTON) - What began 25 years ago with a handful of employees in the basement of a post office in northern Vermont, is now a major part of how U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) efficiently and securely provides immigration benefits to millions of customers every year. Created to carry out work that does not require face-to-face interaction with the public, the USCIS Service Centers located in Vermont, Texas, California and Nebraska, now handle more than 70 percent of the applications received every year.

The idea of the service centers was first conceived in the late 1970s by two legacy U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) managers during a hunting trip in northeastern Vermont. The concept was to relieve overburdened district offices by transferring work that did not require applicant interviews to other locations. This allowed the district offices to concentrate on applicants for immigration benefits such as citizenship and legal permanent residency that require face-to-face interviews.

During the next 25 years we hope to complete the processing of all applications that have been sitting in Service Centers since the Service Centers were created.

You would not be able to demand a refund, because they would have been out of business a long, long time ago laughing.gif

Why not put those feelings as you do here (into letters to the editor) and rebut the story... Once upon a time in a land far away... laughing.gif

I like the part where they say they handled 5.7 million of the 7 million petitions submitted in 2005. That means that 1.3 million petitions got lost in the black hole last year!
