I think I posted this in the wrong forum earlier,, sorry! Hello, has anybody interviewed at the USEM Abu Dhabi and didn't have one of their police certs? My fiancee has her interview on the 20th of OCT. and we are not going to have one of her CNCC's in time for the interview. I am just wondering if anybody has an idea of how they handle this situation at this particular embassy. I am hoping they will just delay the issuance if the visa until we can produce the missing CNCC. Thank you for any help and info you can share!

Hey - any update?

Yes! She had her interview, and they sent her home with a 221g saying she needed to provide her daughter's petition! Her daughter is in China and will interview there at a later date. They told her she had to get her and her daughter's visas at the same time or the daughter could not go with her. She was so taken aback by this she didn't tell them that the little girl is not even in UAE! Besides she doesn't have her own petition, she is covered under the I-129f. So she is going back to get this straightened out. She had not been asked about the police certs yet. I am hoping they will be understanding and approve her visa, pending the arrival of the missing police cert. Thanks Darnell!

That's really strange about the child's petition, but perhaps makes sense, somehow...

I'd suggest slinging an email to the embassy IV unit , there, reminding them that any ftj case for the daughter would come through GUZ.

a FTJ case, whilst connected, is really seperate - perhaps I've missed the etiquette and protocols somehow - perhaps I have stuck in my mind - that if all at SAME consulate, is ok..

So for two seperate consulates, MAYBE the protocols are different.

I dunno, ask them at UAE , via email, about 'how to do' for the child's FTJ case.

Now, the flip side of all this is, is IF the child got the paperwork done at UAE, with interview in GUZ.

Hang in there !!

Thank you Darnell. She went back to the embassy and was waiting in line to get in, hoping to get this straightened out and a lady from the embassy called her asking my fiancee how soon she could get back to the embassy, hehe, she told her that she was already there! The lady kept apologizing for the mistake, and told her to come in and drop off her passport! They gave her a green paper telling her to come back on the following Wednesday to pick up her passport! So, it sounds like everything is working out! I am waiting until Wednesday to see the actual visa before I get too crazy happy, but it is looking good, I think! Thank you so much for your help and concern, it is truly appreciated!

Wei - this is great news !!! I'm so happy for you two !!!

The thing that chaps my @ss, always, is the first-level, braind-dead approach that I've been reading about, where a ConIff or a document screener 'gets it wrong' the first time, and it becomes a communication issue (you or her TO the Consulate IV unit ) to get to the next step.

That's so cool that she was able to get in the next day, and even more cool that things are getting sorted...

They might still delay because of the other police certificate, ya never know till it's actually OVER - but hopefully - if it's still an issue - yer lass will get another phone call.

BE WELL, and WELL RESTED !!

Hey there Darnell, She went back to pick up her passport yesterday and was told her visa wasn't ready and gave her back the passport and handed her another 221g, stating her case requires Administrative processing. So, we are playing the waiting game. They said to check the embassy web site, which we both do several times a day, hehe, but it hasn't been updated since the 19th of this month. You know, she still hasn't been interviewed yet! This is the weirdest "interview" procedure I have ever heard of! Thanks again for your help and advice, I really appreciate it. This is starting to suck hard. I will let you know how it goes.

Holy Crap!

Well, at least it's not an 'outright denial'.

At least that embassy has a web portal for checking...
It'd be nice if GUZ had such a thing, ya ?

I've no idea why it flipped into AP.

I will say this - she's LUCKY to be at a consulate with walk-in service. GUZ doesn't have that, except for the Interview Day and ACS/ACH.

I will suggest this, though - call the DOS Hotline, get a human, inquire about status:
1. current status with the date/time stamp and
2. last 3 status types, with the date/time stamps of each.

You might learn something interesting, or it will be a dead lesson - either way. DOS and the Consulate share data on the same computer system, usually DOS is 1 to 3 days 'behind' for current status.

Thank you, Darnell, I will call them. I appreciate your advice. I think your advice to fax the embassy is what got us a quick response and apology about the initial interview snafu. My lawyer told me to stop e-mailing the embassy, it will only bother them and further delay our case (?), and said to let their office do the dealing with the embassy. Now, I am pretty sure this is just them trying to act important and maybe earn some of their money, I don't know. But I am going to call DOS and see what is up. Thanks again!

Ya, I'm all for training lawyers. My basic problem, though, is that I've trained them on MY DIME. Whilst that's ok for my business interests, I refuse to do it for personal matters - I have the same lexis/nexis research account that they do, so why bother?

Of course, I can be had, for at least 1 kg of cooked food (frozen and shipped is fine ).

I'm so happy the fax worked out for you. It really is HIT OR MISS on this kind of thing.

Good morning! Hey Darnell, I received an e-mail from the embassy yesterday that said processing is complete. I took your advice and called DOS and they said that yes, in fact the result of the AP has been sent back to Abu Dhabi, but that a consular officer still needs to make a final decision. I am stoked that it was only 6 days AP, but just still a little nervous about the decision, since everything else has taken the crazy route at the embassy stage! My Fiancee is unable to go back to the embassy until Dec. 9 now, due to her job! This is so nerve wracking, thank you and everyone here at VJ for helping us so much. I will let you know as things progress!

Hey JSVP08! Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers! It is looking like my fiancee can go to the embassy as soon as her work allows and we get that police cert. Speaking of the police cert, I called the Singapore police force to see if they had a time line on when we should be expecting the cert, and they said the application was incomplete! No photos were attached to the app! Yes, they were! I triple checked everything before I mailed it to them. So anyway, I mailed them another set of passport-sized photos like they asked for, and now, maybe we can complete this agonizing process! My poor Fiancee's patience is wearing thin, she has made 5 trips to the embassy, a 5 hour round trip, so I really appreciate the well wishes and prayers. It is frustrating now, but it will be worth every bit of this once she gets here!
