After receiving Packet 4 (WOW!!!), instruction 4 sez either the birth certificate or the national identification and house registration. If these documents are not in english "or in the official language of the country in which aplication for visa is being made" - they must be translated...but she is in Thailand, the official language is Thai, the documents are in Thai, the consulate is in Thailand...no translation, Right?

We had just her birth certificate translated. Do it, it only costs about 120 baht. However we also took her ID and house registration (not translated) and made a copy of each just to be safe.
So I would get her bc translated just to be safe.

Also, watch out on the interview date. There are a lot of people sitting around the embassy offering "translation services" and they say that you need certain things that you really don't (barcodes?, ID translation for use in America, etc.) just ignore them....trust me!

Remember you (she) are/is getting a USA visa which means that even though you are in Thailand, it is the US Embassy you (she) are/is getting the visa from. She is coming to the USA, thus you need what the USA requires.

You will need to get ANY documents that are not in English translated to English. I am sure if you pop into the Thailand threads that you will get any help or information you need as to the exact procedures for this.

This will lead you in the right direction to start.

My understanding is exactly what your document says. If she is in Thailand, the official language is Thai, the documents are in Thai (or English) then you should need nothing translated. They should speak the countries language at the Consulate.

You can do it if it makes you feel more comfortable, but techincally you should not have to. If it was in a different language other than Thai, or English then yes, or of course if you were sending your I-129F in with supporting documents in Thai, but your way past that.
