Hi, havent been around for a while. Please anyone give me some info or advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My husband had his interview at the consulate in jerusalem on JUNE 23, 2009, the co told him everything was fine but they just needed a "no tax letter" from me the petitioner.
The embassy receives the letter a few weeks later, and on JULY 17, 2009, the embassy called my husband and asked him a variety of questions, they asked him questions such as:
What is you mothers name?
fathers name
sisters names
what do you work
have you ever been out of the country
and they also asked for his haweeya number
The embassy told my husband that they received the letter that was requested after the interview and that they are just going to review his papers one more time and it will take from 1-3 months for them to call him back for his passport.
2 days ago i just received a letter in the mail from the embassy saying (this case is complete but needs additional administrative processing and they will call us as soon as it is complete)

I called DOS and the case is in washinton in AP.
My question is why did they send the case to washington and put him in ap if they already called him and got all their information??????????? He has no criminal record or ANything out of the ordinary, they already questioned him when they called him!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone have any experience, ideas anything, how long can we expect to wait in ap for???? Will it be just like the embassy told my husband when they called him, 1-3 months. And the paper they sent me says that they have completed the case but just needs additonal processing. AND his name is MOHAMMED, common. So how long can we expect to wait for, please anyone help!!

I don't know much about AP but I wanted to express my regret at your situation. AP is common for men from some countries/backgrounds - they do addtional background checks (which is why they needed his family's names because Mohammed is such a common name - I'd hate to have them mix him up with someone else)

Good luck, I hope your AP is quick.

Most ppl from that area of the country have AP it is pretty standard. Just giving the names of relatives is a starting point, now they will investigate him.
I can sympathize. My husband has had one of the most extensive background checks because he is from Iran and has a very common name. Now that he is here his green card is taking forever again.

I wish u a speedy AP and a quick reunion

AP will be common for this area, timeeeee well that can be weeks to sometimes years....your almost there unfortunatly just another wait and see time to go thru. The common name to will slow alot of it but just hope for the best and a quick end

I am going to have the same problem once my fianee (she) gets here. It has been close to 13 months of AP, still no news. I am quitting my job to join her in Iran. Hope somthing happens so soon for us. thank you for your personal posting before.

Welcome to the world of AP smile.gif.

Here is what I did to get our 2nd interview scheduled.

1. Called DOS every day to ask for the status of the case, sometimes you'll get a nice operator who will tell you something in the notes that will help you - that's what happened to me. If you get Sarah - ask questions she is WONDERFUL.

2. Email the embassy (every 10 days or so) - be very nice, understanding yet inquizzative. Remember, you attract more bees with honey than with vinegar.

3. Plan a trip to see you SO, AND let the embassy KNOW (via email) you are planning a trip and ask them when a good time to come and visit with someone there is.

4. When you receive confirmation from either the embassy or DOS that your email has been received email the embassy again giving them TWO possible dates for your visits (I told them two different weeks I could plan my trip for). In my case, Sarah at DOS was kind enough to share a note from the embassy that said, "we would love to meet with WhidbeyGirl". THAT was my cue to give them options.

No I WON'T guarantee that this strategy will work for you because my husband is neither Muslim nor does he have a common name, but it's worth a try. I'm still not certain we will be off of AP after my visit for the 2nd interview, but it got us a 2nd interview in less than 2 months.

I am sorry to hear this. As you know I have the same experience with the same consulate. The question is that why cannot they just tell after the interview that they need to undertake some additional administrative processing? Why wait after a month or two to say this. Instead they say in the interview everything is fine and you passed the interview and we will contact you to send your passport as what happened with me, and now we are planning to live here in Palestine as result of AP. We cannot be apart for that long.

I keep sending an email every week to the consulate checking my status, and I call the DOS once a week. Do the same and try to be so patient, and do not let this AP effects your daily life, be strong. It something we have to go through. Yes, coming to Palestine for a visit will help.
Whatznext
Its just not that embassy it seems to be a standard if you are going under AP my husband was interviewed at the Ukraine Embassy and was told everything is fine paid the money left the passport and the passport never came we contacted them to be told it was under AR and that would take a short time unless they put it under AP and that would take a long time. 10 months later I wrote and asked the status and was told we cannot tell how long this will take but if we didnt intend on issuing the visa we would not be doing the AP 1 month later the case was sent back to USCIS without any notification I found this out from DOS I wrote the Embassy and it was confirmed the case was sent back but I was not given a reason why 3 months later I still dont know why anyway sorry for the ramble......every embassy does what they want and how they want to do it sorry for the AP but it will end I just hope yours has a better end than mine

married1989
well im planning to go visit my husband after ramadan ends. Will me visiting the embassy myself help any???
Whatznext
some months back two girls at the same time to the same embassy one got his visa a month later and the otner one is still waiting its been about 14 months of AP for them so who knows it cant hurt to go

married1989
i have a question, basically since they already called and questioned my husband as soon as they put him in ap, like they got all his information and families names, and haweeya number, etc----will that help his ap maybe?????? Maybe it will be a little quicker since the embassy already questioned him and got the information they needed-- i really hope it will be within 1-3 months like they told my husband. What do you think????
married1989
i have a question, well since the embassy already called my husband and questioned him and got basically all his information, will that help his ap go faster since they already got the info they needed???????????? I just dont understand why they called and asked him lots of questions and got all his info and then send the case to washington for ap, i thought that was the background check-----its so frustrating!!!!!!

sorry for posting twice, i thought my 1st reply didnt show up so i did it again.
Whatznext
the good thing is that they called him so they are working on his case I would just relax you will see him soon and there is no way to know or explain the AP time frame thats why we have the AP tracker it helps alittle. I do think that in general the AP are over much faster than last year Good Luck

Per my previous post:

...

3. Plan a trip to see you SO, AND let the embassy KNOW (via email) you are planning a trip and ask them when a good time to come and visit with someone there is.

4. When you receive confirmation from either the embassy or DOS that your email has been received email the embassy again giving them TWO possible dates for your visits

Definitely it helps for you to visit the embassy, it's another way to show a bonafide relationship.

they did the same thing to us, i even have a thread about it.http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=224826&hl=

i was paranoid when they called and asked for all this. i figured it was because they wanted to see if everything added up and if we were being honestly, luckily we have nothing to hide! two days after the call i received an email and a letter in the mail saying we are in AP sad.gif
