Thought i'd start a thread for us AOS'rs... I know that the Consulate thread was very helpful for me...and waiting sucks.... I figure anyone filing at any stage....can chat with fellow Canadians....etc...

I sent mine in about 10 days ago....my cheque was cashed, still waiting for NOA's....

Been having issues with getting my DL...we'll see how that goes.... I'm hoping once my AP comes through..i'll finally be able to travel back to TO....

Originally my AP was important for my son to see his dad every 3-4 weeks...I would drive him back and forth...originally we said until the AP came in, my ex would drive to Buffalo to meet us... needless to say. i'm very disappointed... he has called us once in 8 weeks....we made all the attempts in the beginning...I recently told him that we would leave it to him to call us next as I felt we were chasing him all the time... it's been 2 weeks...and nothing....I have a feeling that as soon as I get my AP....he will expect me to just show up...and that makes me so mad!!!! Why should I make the effort and go through the trouble of the 8 hour drive once a month if he doesn't even call? I guess I started feeling bad cause my son has been asking about him.... sad.gif

anywho....anyone waiting for AOS...let me know how it's going smile.gif

I would hold him to coming to Buffalo at least once. Make sure he understands what it really like to make that drive.

May you have a speedy aos/ap/ead!

Hope everything works out for you Poprocks, regarding the ex and all. It would be hard for your son, because he may have a hard time understanding why you can't just go home yet. I hope you all meet up state side at least, and soon.

Best wishes for the AOS. I hope your AP and EAD comes in sooner than you expect. star_smile.gif

*by the way, I'm kinda in this thread illegally because I haven't moved or got married yet, and won't be filing AOS until probably first week of October or so. But I might just sneak in here to get an idea or two of what to do *

well I'm 2/3 the way through...you can see my siggy for the timeline. Green Card interview is August 7th in Durham, and we're getting everything together next week for it (then spending the weekend in Willmington Beach to destress hehe).

I had a pretty painless AOS process so far, and I hope you do too PopRocks!

That's pretty cool...I'm happy for ya smile.gif

I wonder how long after the interview do you see a Greencard?

Do I have to wait to get my NOA's to register on USCIS to track my AOS?
DeadPoolX
Hmm... I read "AOS" as "SOS" and thought that was a little unusual... unsure.gif

When you get your NOAs you'll get case numbers... when you have them, log them into USCIS and you can trace all 3 cases.

As for the interview, some people get approved on the spot and the GC mailed shortly thereafter, and others are told a decision will be made within 60 days time. So I guess it just depends

My goal is to get my package in the mail before September, we'll see how that works out! Its annoying because our officiant is going to mail the marriage license in for us, but that will take a week or two to be processed and recieved. We can't bring it in ourselves because we're leaving for the honeymoon early the morning after the wedding... So hopefully it doesn't take any longer then he says it will.

Sorry to hear about the issues with your Son's father PopRocks. Things always have a way of working themselves out, so I'm sure things will be alright.

I am just waiting for my Biometrics, which is Tuesday August 4th, and then hopefully I'll see my EAD/AP come through soon after.

I'm actually a bit anxious to get starting on a job search. I really REALLY really miss working and growing my career. I really can't wait to get back into working again. 90% because I truly do miss working and having a purpose to wake up to every morning and also because I didn't realize how great of a lifestyle I had on my salary. I was saving money, but I could also buy myself a new nailpolish or top or earrings or whatever and not feel so guilty. I miss having a pay cheque.

So I'm going to start my search this week and next and hopefully the timing will all work out. The least I can do is try!

How long will you be gone for? We're leaving the night of the wedding and doing a 2-3 week road trip around the eastern States. I'm hoping to get as much done for AOS that we can, (forms etc) and then when we get back, hopefully add the marriage license, and anything else we can't get till after we're married. If all goes well, the beginning of Oct. for us. Still within plenty of time before my I-94 would expire.

I want to start filling the AOS package, even if we are not getting married before the 21st, although we're going to try to get the civil wedding done before this date.

Let's say we'll get married on Aug 21st, can i put dates on the forms before august 21st or should i anticipate and put something like aug 23rd?

I would populate all the basic generic info like bio stuff...etc.. To be honest, the most time consuming is copying all the documents for proof....the marriage cert, photos, passport, I-94 etc....I made 3 copies of all...and attached to each form (AOS, AO, EAD) I was worried they may seperate the 3 and work on the seperate. Also, the 325a takes long... I would hold off on filing in any dates.... just in case, wouldnt you hate to have to do it allllll over if something changed? It really isn't that much more work to hold off on something like dates....it's not as if you'll file any sooner....it may take an extra 20min at most smile.gif

Had my biometrics done 2 weeks ago ... they better have enough fingerprints and pictures now because thats all i been doing and they sure took enough at the appointment.... and my case was transfered to CSC a few days before that ... the only thing i found about the AOS is that if i have to do an interview and ya have to get all sorts of "proof" i am having a hard time gathering certain things because EVERYWHERE i need to go to get the proof wants either my EAD or my greencard.. even the bank giving us a hard time getting a joint account because i am not a "resident" even tho i have an account there .. joint lease? no way i don't have a job cause i don't have an EAD so they won't touch me there .. it's going to be a treat if i get an interview

I think i'll out the forms but do not put any dates. I dont know if it matters if the documents are typeds on the computer but the dates are hand-written...

For the I-94, do we send the original I-94 or just a copy? At the POE they told me to send the original but i think it's weird.

For my birth certificate, i need a translation, is a color copy enough? I'd rather keep the original for the interview (if interview there is)

The I-94, send a copy of both front and back. Don't send the original

I sent my AOS package in May 28, received my AP a couple of weeks ago and my EAD card last week. Hopefully the process is just as quick for all of you. My file was transfered to California, so fingers crossed that that means no interview. The whole AOS process has been so much smoother and faster than than the K1 process - being together really helps.

But I hear you, Sapphire - I need to start working again, I'm going totally stir crazy!

I applied for AOS on June 19, had my biometrics today July 27 - smooth and uneventful, they take a lot of fingerprints and a photo. I received 2 emails, one yesterday that my AP was approved and one today that my EAD was approved. So that was quick. I am happy to get the EAD, because once I have it I can start collecting EI. They transferred AOS application to the California centre, so hopefully no interview...

So the wait seems to be so much faster for this paperwork... I can't wait to have the GC in my hand, it will be great to have permanent status.

Sounds like fun! We're going to Disneyworld for 6 days, so not quite as long. I figure that if all goes well the marriage license will be waiting for us when we get back, and if not we probably won't have to wait for more than a week to file. My I-94 expires September 11th, so I'd like to have AOS filed by the end of August-begining of September, but we'll see how it goes. Between the K-1 and the wedding I'm just really done stressing out about things! What will be, will be. I actually filled out all the AOS forms already and it literally took 30 minutes. I just need to do all the photocopying, document gathering, organizing... all the time consuming things.

RYCK, if you got trans to CSC, you can pretty much bet the farm...you are not having an interview smile.gif People who get transferred to CSC get automatic GC's....so you are lucky! Don't worry about the proof....you'll kill yourself for nothing smile.gif

I have like 6 file numbers, between myself and my son. Do I go in and set up an account to track them all on the USCIS website?

Saphire...I hear ya on the financial independence... I feel guilty spending money on myself...getting my hair done, or even a run to Target. I do use my husbands credit card...but I always feel like if it's just for me...like I need to almost make sure he is ok with it...he's been good...but the guilt is no less sad.gif I had to spend a very large portion of my savings paying off my car before I moved because I couldn't take my loan with me sad.gif

I got my NOA's today, they are dated July 20th...I got 10 in total! Between me, my son and the change of address...

let me know what you guys did to register on line and i'll set it up smile.gif

Thanks guys smile.gif

Good luck sending in your AOS tmrw!

I really hope we get transferred to CSC....I would hate to get an interview and have to explain the address change after the fact sad.gif I just changed my address with them, and we are moving soon again...

The address they originally had was my husbands old address...but when I get here, he had already moved out and we are living at his dad's place (where I changed my address to)...our house is almost ready and we'll be moving again! if we go for an interview, all of our proof for utilities etc...will be in our house address and not the one I just sent them....maybe they'll be like WTF?

Either way, we have access to both mail...and proof of residency for both...i'm sure they'll understand....all of our id's etc...are the same...so at least it shows that we are always together...

I hope they accept the EAD app for my son...it's the only way I can get an SSN for him. I'm not sure if they accept EAD for such a young child. I guess i'll find out...

I guess now, i'm just waiting on my Biometrics notice smile.gif

I just saw someone's timeline for AOS...

they filed 1st week of June, rec'd in Chicago June 10th... They did biometrics July 7, and rec'd notification for card production on July 28th.... blink.gif

Does this mean a GC is being issued with no interview and within 6 weeks???? Holy crap...they didn't even have time to rec've their AP or EAD!

That's amazing! I hope that's how fast things are going and keep going! I also hope my case is not further complicated by the fact that I am also filing for my son...

I would love to have it fly that fast!

We're waiting to receive our marriage certificate (next week we're going to check at the clerks office if we can get a certified copy yet) but we'll be ready to file AOS!

One question: which form of the G-325A did you fill?
The new one that expires in 2011, that is 2 pages long and that has boxes too short for the marriage date?
Or the old one that expired in 2009 but that is 4 pages long?

And one copy or four copies?
I'm lost (again i know)
poprocks
Frenchy... Go to USCIS to download the most up to date form....under forms, they are all listed. You need 4 copies of it, all signed.

I'm glad they're moving fast...I didn't think I'd get a Bio letter so soon?! I just filed exactly 2 weeks ago.

If you guys look under the AOS forum, there is a thread for July filers, 23% have already been transferred to CSC this month....on average about 15-18% get trans...I hope I get sent there lol...

Keep in mind, anyone filing in the next couple if days...if your package is rec'd in Chicago after July...then you should follow the Aug filers thread...

Good luck smile.gif

That is the copy i have but i read that there is a mistake from USCIS and it should be 4 copies in the file (since each copy is going to a different department/folder). But the latest one is only 2 pages.
Plus the new version is not practical to fill on the computer, the boxes are too small and the dates do not fit headbonk.gif
I could handwrite i know but typed on the computer is better looking wink.gif

I'm having a hard time with some of the timelines that are out there they are just too unrealistic ... but hey thats just me ... trying to decide what wait is better the wait for the green card and EAD or the wait for the K-1 ... at least with the K-1 i was still going to work everyday and doing my normal everyday routine but now waiting on the EAD it feels tougher i cannot work so i can't help contribute to the household and that makes me feel like a bum theres not a whole lot that helps keep my mind off of it. awww I can appreciate that. Even though I have a whole house to decorate, and a great yard to play in...I often wonder how I'll feel after about a month or so without contributing.

Hope everything comes quickly for you RYCK.

I'm going stir-crazy too RYCK. I'm just been applying for jobs in the meantime and telling them work permit is on its way. It could backfire on me, but I figure it can't hurt to try.

Last night my case got transferred to CSC!!!

I'm happy about that! kicking.gif

Mine was transferred too ... I'm still going to go into it thinking i'll need an interview so i'll be prepared for it. As for job seeking i'll wait till i get my EAD would be nothing worse than finding out someone wants to hire me and i'll have to say no then by the time i go back they already found someone for the spot .. i kinda don't wanna know

Wooo Congrats!! kicking.gif

I can't follow timelines, it makes me absolutely insane! The reality is that your case is going to take as long as its going to take... it depends on a million different factors that seem unique to each person and each situation. Seeing how quickly someone is getting their GC, or how long it is taking someone else, just makes you antsy. I used this logic when I was waiting for my NOA2, never paid attention to Igor's list and I ended up getting my approval notice way quicker than I was expecting... It was like Christmas! laughing.gif

Blah, AOS, I'm not looking forward to it. I'm actually considering not getting the last garadisil shot before I file... it would only be 1 week overdue, and it will delay my filing time. I'm not sure if its worth it or not... any thoughts?

You may get an RFE if they notice that your third shot is within filing timelines, but I honestly don't think you will. From what I've read they only care that you started the series. Personally, I like to take my chances!

It's true about timelines, although the AOS is pretty accurate and much more consistent than NOA2s from my research so far. Some in the June filer's thread for AOS just got their GC approved in 45 days! Faster than their EAD! Crazy!

Hey everyone, I am finished gathering my stuff for AOS, mailing it in tomorrow. smile.gif

Hey Happycloud...I just noticed you just got married...CONGRATS! How exciting! You're so close to me, we should go out and celebrate! lol smile.gif

Yup just got married!! I had all the papers ready to go, was just waiting for his Social which we got on Monday. Deffinetly we should go out!! So nice to have a fellow VJ'er within 30 minutes smile.gif

Now that is crazy! Maybe they hired more staff over at UCSIS, or there are less applications!? Who knows.

From what the news says, its probably less applications! smile.gif

We are filling in all the forms and hope to have it in the mail on Friday- looks like now is the time! good.gif

Cheers everyone smile.gif

I have to go down to Dover for biometrics as well. I am thinking after my husband does that, we will just keep on going south and go to the beach for the rest of the day smile.gif Make it worth the trip down. You will find there is nothing really exciting in Dover at all. The neatest thing there on the way to the beaches is the stadium for Nascar (just because it is so darn huge) and the Airforce base. Though if your son likes airplanes they do have an airplane museum (though I have never been there so I don't know how good it is).

45 days for the GC, wow we better file soon!!!

It's definitely true that AOS applications are being processed fast - I just received an email from CRIS saying they've ordered production of my green card. Only took two months, no interview because my file went through CSC.

Just as an FYI - I only sent in a copy of the vaccination report from medical, I didn't have it re-transcribed. But I also didn't require Gardasil shots, not sure if that makes a difference.

Wishing you all speedy approvals on AP/EAD/AOS! And thanks to everyone for all the helpful advice and tips I found on this forum - couldn't have gotten through this process without you. I almost can't believe it will be, like, two years before I have to fill out and file and track any more paperwork. I feel like that's all I've been doing for the last year...

q&a - your aos timeline is very encouraging, wow, so quick. I am in the same boat except filed a month later, was transferred to csc and so far got my ead and ap approved.
