Old forums can be found at
http://www.visajourney.com/forums2New Forums are here (at visajourney.com/forums)
I know this is a big "WHOAAAAAAA!!!" but it had to be done. Before you ask, old posts will remain on the old forums. Please start posting here though!!!

We can not move the old posts here automatically (keep this in mind). The server crashed corrupting data on the old forums. To be safe we had to start the new forums "clean" -- I am working like mad to move things and make it all work....
You will have full access to the old forums but I will disable new reg's there soon. In the next few days I will fix all the bugs and "pretty up" skin problems to make the new forums look as good or better than ever.
Please feel free to copy over (manually "copy / paste") posts from the old forums (forums2) if you would like. Posts will not be automatically copied over. The posts on the old forums will remain visible indefinately as a public service for archives sake. You can search them by going to "forums2". I have to take care of more things here so PM or reply to this thread if you have any Q's.
THANK you for your patience!!!!!!!

Bug #1: I went to post our Canadian pinned thread links and there's no Regional forum! Of any kind. I was accessing off the main forums page.
I'm tired so if it's moved, please direct me. Thanks!

I dont see anything posted in any of the forums.

There's been server outages for the past day or so. Capt. Ewok posted on the www.visajourney.com/forums2 site (the old forums) that he had to take this measure to save threads from disappearing, as they have been for the past day or so.
Warning can only come with a long-term plan. This was to fix potentially losing EVERY thread.
And as you can see from my post above, the regional forums got missed. Capt. Ewok will get to the problems as they're posted here. He did a tremendous amount of work in a short amount of time so I'm sure there are a few things that might have been missed.

So... copying and pasting something from an old post will in no way bring the corruption to the new site, will it? I was about to do that, but just wanted to double check first.
Is there anything we should avoid copying and pasting?
Thanks for all the hard work!

OK just had 2 goes at working at how the QUOTE part went, lol
No -copying and pasting just brings the WORDS over, not the encryted data from the old forum (which is buried in a posting table in MySQL) so it shouldn't hurt anything

I just wanted to say Thank you for all that you are doing... What a pain in the butt for you though...
I also wanted to tell you that I started a thread in the DCF area yesterday (shortly before the problems occured) & although I hear that nothing was lost, it appears as though my thread was lost. It is not in the Forums 2 (old posts) area... It's not a big deal, I will just type it again... But I wanted to let you know that it was lost... Maybe it's not the only one... ((((????))))
Thanks again for working so hard to get this all cleaned up...

Trying to sort out my signature - the little flags are showing as 'click to re-size' but i see others are using them with no 'click to resize' problems and it comes back as 'signature is too long'.
I even tried DELETING part of the sig but it STILL says 'too long' which is nuts seeing as I tired to REDUCE it, lol

This had to be a hellish amount of work for you, Ewok. Kudos on finding a speedy solution, even if we're still working out some bugs!

The submenu, listing gallery, downloads, example forms, timelines etc, appears to have a hiccup too. First click takes you to the default forum page, where the explanation for the board redesign is discussed, then a second click takes you to the selected page in the submenu (downloads, timelines etc)
Perhaps you could add a link to the archived threads on the Global Site map page under "archive"???
http://www.visajourney.com/sitemap/'Nother ?. Why, if a member was the last to post, does "fast reply" add the next post to the previous post? Is this intentional, almost like an edit feature?

You did a great job on this, Ewok!
I noticed two things, though. First, in the new Off Topic forum, there appear to be 257 pages, 255 of which are empty.
Second the assistant is now an internal pop-up that can't be moved out of the browser window. That might not be a problem is you have you screen is big enough but on a notebook it's bothersome because you have to move the pop-up window constantly. It also tends to stay where it was. Any way to get a separate window assistant again?

Another bug I've noticed is that when a member that has a thumbnail in his/her signature posts a reply, or begins a thread, the MAIN thread name attaches a paper-clip. Now that's not at all bothersome, but it gives the impression that the post has an important document or download attached. It might be worhtwhile considering a change perhaps?
