Let's say I marry my Russian fiance in Cyprus and go the K3 route. Would her interview take place in Moscow or in Nicosia?

I believe the visa processing takes place in country you got married not where you reside for K3. Someone correct me if I am wrong please.

If you are married in Cyprus.. the K3 interview will be in Nicosia. If you continue onto a CR-1 visa, that interview will be in Moscow.

If they marry in Cyprus, why not file the I-130 there? Then the interview would be in Nicosia, but it would be a lot sooner than one in Moscow...

Mo...

But can one file the I-130 if neither is resident in Cyprus... It appears that they intended to get married on vacation as lots of Russians do in Cyprus...

*nods* It's one of those weird time/space continuum places, like Malaysia.

If we marry in Cyprus, there'd be a collection of reasons.

Sure, the vacation would be fun.
The waiting period in Cyprus is 3 days, as opposed to 30+ days in Russia.

We could do a K1, but it would be a second K1 -- and I'm wondering if we could short-circuit all the "will you really get married this time" and finesse some of the IMBRA waiver hassles if we simply get married abroad.

So, if we marry in Cyprus, she'd return to Nicosia for a K3 interview but if the I-129F process stays plugged and we opt for CR-1, that interview would be in Moscow.

But is the K3 process a lot faster in Nicosia than in Moscow? (Speed isn't a critical factor to us, but it is a factor.)

My husband is a Ghanaian playing professional football in Cyprus and we have dealt with the Cyprus US Embassy . They are very nice and you could do DCF ....if we could do things over again we would marry there instead of Ghana knowing what we know now about how it varies from Embassy and Country...You mentioned that time is not a factor for you now but once your marry your significant other, you like the rest of going thru the visa process will probably want to be with your spouse as soon as you can...Getting married in Cyprus to me sounds like a great idea as that embassy is very friendly and helpful..If for some reason she cant have her interview their you always go the Moscow route but I think it is definitely worth a try....Good Luck and if anything marrying in Cyprus should you decide to go that route would be a wonderful experience as it a beautiful island!! heart.gif star_smile.gif
