July 4th... We'll be in NYC, and I think I have the day off! Ella, what happens in New York on the 4th? I've never spent the 4th in New York before.
Macy's sponsors fireworks over the East River below 34th St. on the 4th of July. They usually kick off between 9 and 9:15. They are spectacular.
On July 8th, there's an Arab-American/North African street fair on Bond St. near Broadway (take the 6 train to Bleeker St.). Also on the 8th, Hakim is performing at the Central Park Summer Stage. I think his concert begins about 3 pm.

Katie thanks for the tips!!!
Noura, I should be free on the 4th, and maybe the 8th (not sure about that yet). I'll PM you my phone number.
Jess, hope your tummy feels better! Are you going to do anything for the 4th? I mean, I know they're not going to be setting off fireworks or anything, but maybe you can buy sparklers?
OK, so the RMV was a complete waste of time. We got there at 12:30. We waited in line until 2:00, only to find out that the proof of address we brought wasn't sufficient (thank goodness they told us when we came back we wouldn't have to wait in line again.) We ran home, got back there at 2:45, and waited 1 1/2 hours while they attempted to get the machine to read his passport. They said that because it's handwritten they have to fax it in to get authorization. Which I think is a bunch of BS because plenty of other Moroccans have had no problem with their passports.

There's 4 hours down the drain.
So anyway, now we have to wait for them to call us next week. I wish he could've at least taken the test so we'd know he already passed it. I'm not convinced he will (don't tell him I said that!)
Happy Friday all!
