Given the recent drama, thought it might be interesting to see how people have found their way here...
I was searching for immigration information when I found this site through Google....

Me too. It was just before we got engaged and we were looking for what our various options would be if we did get engaged, since he was in the US at the time.

This was one of the first sites I found (Google is my friend...) and I SPECIFICALLY wanted a forum with anecdotal info/experiences.
I'd already emailed a lawyer who gave me free info - thanks Greg - and basically said I really didn't 'need' an attorney if things were straightforward (as they appeared to be) and as I was from UK.
I googled and found this place after a huge PANIC at reading the CSC timelines on the official site (and wanting to speak to people who'd been there done that) - and the peeps here calmed me down somewhat, lol.
Joined to post that one query and been here ever since

I had joined a yahoo group for ppl involved w/ Moroccans... some of the ladies there told me abt it. I joined and didn't utilize it much til abt 5 or 6 mos later... now I'm addicted. Really, I was so scared of paperwork and wanted to hire a lawyer, but a few ppl told me it really was do-able and that w/ their help and the help of VJ, I could do it... and I have! At least so far...
The biggest thing someone said to me that convinced me I could do it myself? "NO ONE CARES ABT YOUR CASE AS MUCH AS YOU DO - EVEN IF THEY'RE GETTING PAID"! Ain't that the truth??!!

Found it while searching for info on I-129F and fiancee visa. For the immigration benefits, I'm glad I did. For the drama... well... not everything is perfect.

I ticked 'looking for immigration info' although that's not quite accurate.
I was googling for websites that contained ANY info about long-distance relationships. Found one couples website that mentioned obtaining a Walsh visa for the British boyfriend so he could come to the states for a longer stay - so he and the American woman could get to know each other better.
Started googling for visa information and ended up here!

My original goal was to draw my alimony for as long as possible while my Irish boyfriend and I shacked up in America.....

LMAO Becca.....love the response!
I was also looking for LDR online too...support groups and that sort of thing....then when Joel and I talked marriage I looked for info on marrying someone from another country. That led me to VJ. Subsequently I told Joel about it and then he joined and here we are!

At random I called an attorney's office to make an appointment. After explaining what I needed to discuss with the attorney (at the time I was trying to get my Fiance' here) I was told that my case was so straightforward and simple that it would be better to do the paperwork myself. During this conversation I was also referred to the website of VJ. So ... here I am!

I used to read a forum they had up on Orkut (kind of a myspace thing) for K1 beneficiaries and they decided to close it. It was referred to me by one of the other girls who used to post there.

I was referred by a laboratory instrument technician who happened to have a fiance in another country. I happened to be off work the day he came in to work on our instrument. My co-worker asked how he had been, when he had told her he had just came back from meeting someone on the internet, she asked if he had gotten married too. As I had just recently gotten back from Turkey as a married lady, I am rather a private person and no one but me knew what my intentions were for going abroad at work. I had already filed my papers for both I-130 and K3 and thought I understood the whole process....well she called me at home. Him and I talked a bit about our love lifes and he directed me here...and boy I have learned alot...I think I would have done ok without VJ, but it is so nice knowing that there are other real people xperiencing the same excitement and turmoil long distance relationships have and the long wait for each step of the visa process.
Thanks for being here VJ!!!!

From ASAWA Forum :
http://www.asawa.org/asawa/index.php------
jo&john's journey:
03/10/04: Met John at Yahoo! Messenger; start of a good relationship
03/30/04: I became his girlfriend
05/26/04: John excited for his trip to the Philippines to see me and set the direction
05/27/04: John on board Delta Airlines from DFW (Texas) to San Francisco
05/28/04: John on board China Airlines from San Francisco to Taipei
05/29/04: John on board China Airlines from Taipei to Manila; I met him at the NAIA (Ninoy AquinoInternational Airport);
the rest IS magic! We became more in love!
05/30/04: We got engaged! The remaining 3 days were full of good memories and still crystal clear for me
06/03/04: John left for Taipei on board China Airlines; reached LA then DFW same day; I miss my honey;
we both wait for the approval of my annulment petition (series of court hearings and procedures; constant follow-up to
expedite the process; delays because of holidays, official leaves of court personnel, etc; judge is meticulous,
no short cuts):John had been very supportive and is still.
03/23/06: Regional Court Decision out: Declaring absolute nullity of my marriage. We were very happy! The long wait was over!
Actually, the decision/resolution made was dated February 23, 2006. It took a month for editing, finalization, etc by the
court stenographers, clerk of court, etc.
Upon receipt of the Decision, I flew to Manila (I’m from Iloilo City) and personally hand-carried the Decision to the
Solicitor-General (was praying Sol-Gen won’t object to the decision; RTCs give 15 days for Sol-Gen to appeal)
04/07/06: No appeal from Solicitor-General. RTC recorded the decision in the Book of Entries of Judgment (as final and executory).ENTRY OF JUDGMENT signed by the CLERK OF COURT. This was then forwarded to Local Civil Registrar.
Annotation was done to my Marriage Certificate. Submitted the Annotated (with Annulment Remarks). Marriage Certificate
to NSO (National Statistics Office) for authentication and on SECPA (Security Paper). I got my SECPA annotated marriage
certificate after 3 weeks.
04/10-16: Holy Week; no office
04/17/06: Submitted requirements to RTC for issuance of Annulment Decree
04/18/06: Got my DECREE OF DECLARATION OF NULLITY OF MARRIAGE (annulment process took 1 year and 10 months from
filing of petition to getting the decree) SIGNED BY THE JUDGE! Sent remaining pertinent documents to John needed
for the K1 petition. Both of us were elated!
04/22/06: John sent I-129F to Texas Service Center
04/25/06: I-129F received at California Service Center (Fr. TSC); NOA1 (Received Date)
05/01/06: NOA1 (Notice Date)
06/23/06: email notification re: IMBRA RFE sent from CSC
06/30/06: John received IMBRA RFE (snail mail)
07/05/06: John sent IMBRA RFE reply to CSC
07/17/06: email notification from USCIS re: receipt of IMBRA RFE reply
00/00/06: ???????? NOA2 where are you???? Waiting…waiting…waiting…come ASAP
