Full Version: What's the best East Coast POE for speed and least hassle?

Atlanta is on the bad list.

Seems O'Hare is good.

What other POEs have fiance(e)s had good experiences with?

How does JFK rate?

Let's see if there are VJers on the Russian Forum that can answer this from SVO to East Coast POEs.

JFK is ok... I think it's the only POE that will give you the temporary work permit as well.

There was a post started by "neonred" that has some good information regarding this topic. You can find it easily, as the latest post was the first week of April. Also, there are POE Reviews listed under Statistics in the Immigration Timelines Page.

By the way, I think Chicago appears to be the best central locatio, based on what I've read on VJ; although, it's not east coast. However, I am going to try to use Memphis when our time actually arrives.

Best of luck!

Andrew, thanks so much for the info! Hope everything goes well for ya'll.

Yes, I like O'Hare and have been trying to find a direct flight from SVO to ORD and also to IAD Dulles.

I cannot find one; I can only find two-hop flights.

It looks like for the East Coast, unless Boston, Phili, or something else is known direct, JFK and ATL are it.

So I guess it'll be JFK; I'd go to either ORD or IAD if there was a direct flight; however with another leg to Tampa, that'd be four instead of two.

Atlanta Update

My wife's daughter arrived Wednesday on a K-2 through Atlanta and spent about an hour in immigration. That's a lot better than the three plus hours my (then) fiancee and I were waiting. Seems there were three or four families ahead of her Wednesday. Guess it just depends on how you hit it. I would still try to avoid Atlanta if possible. We chose that POE because it was the least number of plane and gate changes.

Thanks all!

I think I'll just do JFK.

I've checked on other routes such as O'Hare and it seems that there are only two non-stop flights from Moscow to the East and Central US: one to JFK and one to ATL. That's just 2 hops versus 3 or more and much longer times.

I didn't find anything through an agency or Expedia.

Does anyone know any different?

Has anyone ever heard of getting a work permit through another POE other than JFK?

If JFK is not going to be the POE, how long does it take to get EAD?
