Well so much for contacting your Congressman. Looks like there is little to do except wait until USCIS gives their blessing, unbelievable that an orginization can be so inept. Received both of these in the mail today looks like I'm in for a much longer wait, already waiting almost 6 months now another six months, unreal. First letter is from USCIS saying if you do not hear back from us in six months call us, the other letter from my Congresswomen stating there is nothing more her office can do and they are closing their case file. Don't look for my vote next time.

The majority of security clearances are completed fairly quickly. There are however exceptions. If you would like to read further on alien security checks there is a link in my signature.

I am sorry that you were not able to get the answers you would of liked from the congressmans office, but their hands really are tied in as far as what they are allowed to do. They mostly get the same standard responses that we do when we enquire.

All the best

Thank you Aussiewench, I will check your link out, I appreciate your efforts in helping me to understand these dreadful long delays. Loved Australia, went to Brisbane, Sydney, Surfers Paradise and dove the great barrier reef up in Cannes, wonderful trip, loved the Aussies very friendly.

You are very welcome smile.gif

Yeah I'm going to miss Australia like crazy when I leave. I lived for a while in Queensland and I absolutely loved it. Beat living in Sydney hands down (which is where I was raised and live again now) only because I love the sea and sun, fishing etc and the whole lifestyle was just different.

We went through the security checks as did many others at about the same time a year ago. We got a mail message telling us not to bother them for 6 additional months but it did not take nearly that long for anybody. Try not to worry too much!!!

Same here, we were told that our case has been moved into security checks about 5 months after we had filed, and it took another four months to get them done and finally have it approved!

I don't think it will really take another six months for you! Between 3 and 4 months seem to be more realistic! That was the time frame others were telling us about during that time, too. sjoefl01 is correct about that!

Anyway, our congressman here kept sending lettes to NSC every two or three weeks, and called them, also, to inquire about the status. Sorry to hear your congresswoman is not helping you much.

Hang in there, it can't be that much longer! yes.gif

Sorry to hear this. I will say that our congressman told us Tuesday our case had been delayed because it needed "further review" and on friday it was approved. Hope you gets your soon.

I do agree with some of what your congresswoman said. She is right that it is important for them to look at the overall policy and make this process more efficient, however, she probably could have done a little more for you. Good luck.
