Good morning, thank you for taking the time to read this email.

My name is Kirit and I was looking to confirm information that I had gathered over the last few days/weeks. I am currently a Resident Alien of the United States in the process of Naturalization to become a United States Citizen from South Africa. My interview date is scheduled for the 24th of July, and if all goes well (crossing fingers), I'll be a US citizens within a week or two after that.

The information that I needed confirmed was the following (assuming that I become a US Citizen). Will you allow me, a US Citizen not resident of South Africa, to file a petition I-130 for my wife who is a citizen of South Africa. I have researched online that some couples have had great luck in being able to do just that at your consulate, Directly Filing at the Consulate so that the process is greatly accelarated. The process taking weeks instead of months.

My wife , Ami, and I have been married since March 3 2002 (our religious ceremony) and have been unable to be together for any extended period of time due to immigration/visa difficulties since we got married. In the 4 years that we have been married we have spent less than 6 months together. If the decision, to allow filing at the consulate, is left to dicretion of your office, please find it in your heart to allow us to file in person at the consulate. This journey has been a long and difficult one for the two of us and all we want is to be together and start our lives together. It would bring us endless joy if your consulate would allows us to also file these immigration forms directly, saving us months of additional wait time.

Thank you for your time and patience. If you need any additional information from me or my wife please contact me at this email address.

Thank you again,
Kirit

-Present tense is more appropriate and stronger. "I'd like confirmation" or similar.

-I would take out your motivations/reasons for wanting to file. Can't say why, just a feeling I have. Maybe something like "I understand that your local Immigrant Visa process takes about 2 months, is that correct?"

Your story in the next para is compelling, but can be stronger. First, what is the religious ceremony thing all about? Were you legally married on that day? If so, drop the religion part. If not, a ceremony that is not legal has no place in the discussion.

Looks great otherwise! Pop it off into the ether, and I hope you will let us know what they reply.

PS: have you found out when your potential OATH ceremony would be? In our office, we'll get a same day one, but many people have to wait a couple of months (or more, ewww). You will not be a USC until you take the oath (I know you know that--for the benefit of others smile.gif )
