My fiance is going through customs at jfk comming from Jordan on friday and i have to get a flight from JFK to cleveland for him. How much time is good for going through customs? I know it can take any amount of time but is 2 hours for a lay over okay? Let me know!
Thanks,

hard to say Allison.... I've heard some ppl it only takes 30-45 min, some take hours.... I'm sure there are many factors and there's just know way to know, really. What's the next flight he can get on after the 2 hr layover? If he misses his flight, can he go standby on another? Something to check into... it may not be an issue, but you never know.
OMG!!! He's coming Friday... how exciting!

Noura,
Thats what my father said to look for a later flight and then go standby but it seems the flights all leave at 6 and he comes in 4! I know im so excitted and cant wait. My father is in New York so if worst comes to worst he can go get him.
By the way when me and samir have our first daughter her name will be Noura because we love that name and its his sisters name!

I will just suggest to keep at least 4 hours time for next flight, becasue some times it takes more than 2 hours to finish immigration things. But to avoid the risk for next flight it is better to keep 4 hours time in hand.
Thanks

Good luck.... sounds like you have a good back up plan in place! I love the name Noura also (I chose it

) because it is so close to my grandmother's name (Nora). I also love that it means "light" in arabic....
Inch'allah, you will have a beautiful daughter that fills your life w/ LIGHT!

2 hours or 3 hours is good, because that gives enough time to clear customs, go pee pee, grab a snack and find out where the next flight connects!

My husband was held up so long when he came through he missed his flights and all the flights for that night. I ended up driving to NYC to get him. it was stressfull...I would leave as much time as possible.
good luck,
Sarah

I think, that depending on the airline, if his arrival is in the morning, if he misses his connecting flight because of customs, there are certain airlines that will allow him to catch a later flight... i posed this question with Orbitz and US Airways about my own flight back from Algeria because the connection time was kinda skimpy and I'd never been to Charlotte Airport.
