biggrin.gif I am IR-1 case and will interview in Montreal on July 25. But I didn't get the appointment letter yet. It there someone here has IR-1 visa interview experience who can give me a list for the interview? Someone said they take some cash,is that US cash or Canadian US blush.gif ?

After getting the visa, what should I do cross the POE? Someone with K1/K3 visa get EAD something. Do I have to get something on the POE? Hope to get to know the IR-1 expereince. Thank you so much and have a good weekend! rose.gif

Is there someone who can share his/her IR-1 interview experience with the documents list and question he/she got? Thank you so mcuh.

Now this explains your comment in the other thread! smile.gif Sorry, can't help you since I'm going through K1, but please -- for the sake of others who are going through IR-1 -- fill in your timeline? It'll help all of us a whole lot!

i was cr-1 pretty much the same as your IR-1 BUT you get permannet residency for 10 yrs, while mine is only valid for 2 yrs! I cant recall whats in the final packet (my interview was dec 2004)

With regards to EAD, you DO NOT get that. You can work asap when you enter the USA, only need to get your SSN which shouldnt take that long to arrive once you enter the USA. That ball doesnt get rolling until you enter the USA nd hand over the brown enevelope (dont open it!!!) It should take a few weeks to arrive. If it hasnt arrived after a few weeks, head on down to ur local SSn office and see whats up!! I had to reapply. Arrived 1 week after I reapplied.

Interview itself was QUICK and PAINLESS!! Asked very basic questions: How we met, what my wifes does (at time was Dept of State, lol, but not immigration!!) What I planned on doing in USA, and that was it!! I bet it tdidnt even last 10 minutes and most of the time she was just ensuring everything was in order!! Super easy. Staff are great.

Ensure you have all original documents with you. They will give them back!! You wil go through airport like security when u first enter the building. NO ELECTRONICS, yes that includes car starters. NO big bags. I put al my stuff in an accordian style binder. Brought evidence such as pics, letters, airfare receipts, they never asked to see any though, better safe than sorry!! Yes I brought my Xrays, better safe than sorry!! Elevator opens from the REAR!!! I didnt have to pay any typoe of fee when I was there. That may have changed, but then it was only the k1/k3'ers that had to pay a fee!! If you have ur paperwork in order and ur case is straight forward, the interview is the easiest part of the whole process. I say that for Canada, not the case for other parts of the world!! Best of luck

good.gif thank you for the detailed information. It is really helpful to me. One more question is what is "brown enevelope "You mentioned DON'T open it. Where could I get it and where could I head over?
Do I need to take some passport size photoes? How many? That must be taken in haof of year????

Thanks again and have a good weekend.

"The Brown envelope" is what you will get after a succeffull interview!! Dont open it, dont tamper with it!! You will hand it over to the Immigration dude when you come to the USA. In MOntreal you get the Visa the NEXT day!! OR you give them a prepaid expres psot envelope and they wil mail it to you!! Interview is on a Friday, will be issued Monday!! The visa is in your Canadian passport. Believe there is a pic of it in the gallery! The # of pictures required should be in the final packet (some doctors require more than others!)

Don't forget VJ has a search engine!! Not the greatest, but its ok. Just trying different words phrases, plus lots of info on here (found at top of Canadian forum!! http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7
