It's been a crazy week trying to get organized... but Dave is home with me in Boston FOR GOOD!! YEA!!

We have a civil ceremony planned tomorrow and a weekend in Maine to celebrate... I cannot wait!

Just a couple of notes on the moving/crossing process:

We used UPack, Dave made sure they had all the documents, listed everything rather generically for customs that was in the trailer, and left all the papers with the trailer... They picked it up without him even being there which was great since he had a flight to catch to Toronto! Once we got home to Massachusetts, we copied his stamped visa and faxed it to the UPack people, and it was all set to head across the boarder. So yes, you have to come first into the U.S., your stuff second!

His stuff is now currently in Portland, OR right now (so it made it through customs all good!), it's expected to get here next week at some point.

We crossed at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo, drove up to the booth, told them that we were activating a visa, he took our passports and told us to pull over. We ended up in a waiting room for about 45 minutes before Dave was called into the office. They asked him a couple of questions, etc, told him he was all set.

8 hours later, we were finally home... sitting on the couch with huge margaritas in our hands to celebrate :-)

Thanks again for all the advice so far! I'm sure we'll need more of it as we go. :-)

Thanks all!

Quick question... looking at getting Dave's SSN in a couple of weeks...

But what did you put forth for the "other ID" needed... he won't have a U.S. license or anything yet (needs a SSN to get it), so what did you use?
