Hi Melissa and Chris / Vi and Sil........... HAPPY NEW YEAR to you guys and everyone else kicking.gif

Try www.flycheapabroad.com / www.cheaptickets.com / www.airgorilla.com

Lately I find that going directly to LAN's websight is the best I can find out there. We are planning a trip to Peru the begining of March '07 and all my searches send me back to LANS web sight.

I know you guys are in different parts of the country but the best I am finding Miami - Lima - Miami is $534.00 and
Los Angeles - Lima - Los Angeles is around $650.00

Thank you... I will look on those websites... so far the best one I found is on the 700's in AA... the problem is that it is a long long flight... Portland, Los Angeles, Miami, Lima!! I will be flying by myself and I will be 5 months pregnant... this time, the shorter the flight, the better!!

Iīm sure all of you had great celebrations,we went to a nice party with my family and had a blast.
I canīt believe that I have to go bck o the States tomorrow, we are flying at 11.30 arriving in JFK at 8.30, time went by fast and there are so many things that we didnīt do in Lima.
Part of me wants to stay but at the same time I know that I have responsabilities in the States,I have to go back to work on thursday mad.gif and Iīm not so happy about that, Sil says that is ok if I want to stay for a few mor weeks but I feel bad for him.
For those who havenīt been here and are planning to visit Lima soon: I love to be here but I felt a bit insecure, taking taxis and having people asking for $$ is not a good feeling + I hate when people turn around īcause my husband is not peruvian and looks like the typical "gringo" I never see people doing that in th US. The traffic is another story. I had a bad experience last week, going to the gym a guy followed me and grab my ---- I turned around and started yelling at him nobody did anything mad.gif I got so mad mad.gif

Well amigos time to go,I have to start packing, ah, donīt forget to visit LARCOMAR they change it a little bit,itīs much bigger now and has really cool stores.

I'm from Peru too! Well my fiance is laughing.gif

I just wanted to say hi to all the fellow Peruvians. My fiance is from Iquitos - anyone else from there? I haven't seen anyone on this website from Peru that has gotten rejected for a k1 visa... have any of you seen this happen? Our interview is Jan 31st... I am so nervous! I'm flying to Lima Jan 27th. Any tips? Advice?

Also - did any of you incorporate something Peruvian into your American wedding? Just wondering, I'm trying to think of ideas.

Did anyone else have trouble receiving their Packet 3 from the embassy before the interview? My fiance still hasn't gotten his. He called the embassy and they said they sent it 2 weeks ago and that his interview is on the 31st.

Good to meet you all! luv.gif

My wife has found only one site http://www.peru.com/tv_en_vivo/# from Frecuencia Latina, but as of late she can not get it to work.

She has come across others that you have to pay to watch, but we haven't tried them.

She would really like to watch ATV if anyone knows how we could get that, internet, cable, satallite....

in 2 weeks we will be back to Lima, I already have a list of places we want to go
but I'd like to hear some advices secret7vf.gif
Vi Mazzella
I came back from Lima 2 weeks ago, everything still the same BUT I'll recommend you to visit Larcomar (looks so different!!) the new stores are really cool.
I made the mistake to go to the Indian Markets in Petit Thouars with my hubby Plop!! a soon as they saw him they charge me double the price, I went back the next day with my dad and I got the regular prices. Another places that we love is "El Tayta" a bar in Miraflores with diferent kinds of Pisco Sour. "Huaringas" is in our list, great Pisco Sour too.
If you like to dance be prepared 'cause eveybody listens to "Reggaeton" we are not big fans of that rythm but they play it everywhere.

That's it.... good luck in your trip!!!!

Hi everyone!!

Today I will know if I am able to go to Lima or not... if so, I am going to be there for a little less than a week, my parents are extremely excited and "dying" to see me with my big pregnant belly wink.gif I can't wait to be there again, it's been almots 2 years!!

I plan to go to the beach and just get some sun(I am soooo white!!!)... have lots of peruvian food and enjoy being with them.

It is so funny you mention that about the Mercado Inca Vi, when we went to Cabo in Mexico last October... everyone was so obvious about overcharging, once I was looking at a pair of earrings and the lady started saying the price in english, I asked her again in spanish and she reduced it by at least $2 and said "oh, you speak spanish, then that is the price for you"... I was shocked!!! Chris was so upset!!! This time I am going to Lima alone, so I am sure shopping will be easier... wink.gif

Better go get ready, need to see my doctor and hopefully she has good news about the trip!!!

Have a wonderful day!!!

Welcome to the board Kemerly!!!

I havent checked lately how long it takes for the 129f to process... I think it is after all shorter than it was before, some of us waited for over 8 months for the interview... all I have to say is be patient, once you are with the one you love you will see the wait was completely worth it!! wink.gif

In the meantime, while you are in Lima enjoy it as much as you can... take lots of pictures with your family and go to places you havent been and of course enjoy every bite of all the peruvian food you have!!!!

Good luck in the process!!

By the way, which state are you going to move to?
Vi Mazzella
I forgot to mention the taxis, I take the taxis by myself while Sil hides 'cause if they see him they will overcharge us. Ex: We tried to take a taxi from Larcomar to the Kennedy park ( maybe 7 blocks???) s/.15 , was he crazy?????? and when I took it by myself s/.3.5. Here I learned to give tips and to be honest I felt really good doing that in my country, specially for Christmas.

I'm planning to go back in June and then next January, I miss the summer so much crying.gif , it's so cold in NY crying.gif .

Good Luck Meli, I'm sure your parents are dying to see you again. kicking.gif

KEMERLY...>> As Melissa said, try to spend alot of time with your family and friends, take pictures, get videos, enjoy the food 'cause being far is not so easy.

I got the ok from my doctor today, I have been looking for plane tickets here and there are a little bit under $1000, my dad is contacting the travel agency that he always goes through to see if he can find it for a little bit less there... we will see, I think early february is a high season for Lima being that it is the middle of summer... We will see.

I am so excited to go back, specially now that it is freezing cold here in Oregon!!! I cant wait to go to the beach and feel the warm water again...

Hi Melissa

Happy for you that you get to travel back home after being away for so long...... I would like to know how much and where you eventually get your ticket from.

We were hoping to use my airmiles for both our tickets to Lima, but of course the times we want to travel in March is Spring Break here and all those seats are gone. So now we have to pay the air tickets and all expenses for our religious wedding......

Hi MandR!

I ended up buying my plane tickets through Delta Online, I looked everywhere and couldn't find the "right" flight for me... I usually fly with American Airlines, buy for some reason they dont have direct flights from Dallas to Lima anymore, all the flights go through Miami!! Insane!! When I looked there they wanted me to fly from Portland, OR to Los Angeles, CA to Miami, FL to Lima... 22 hour flight with an 8 hour stop in LA... the price was right, but with the pregnancy I wasn't doing that... the price after taxes through American Airlines was around 950.00. I looked in Lan Peru and they had one from Portland to Los Angeles to Lima, short stop and everything, but the price was in the $1200. I checked orbitz, travelocity, yahoo travel, flycheapsabroad, expedia, bookingonline... everywhere and the best deal I found was the one in Delta... Portland, Atlanta, Lima... for $910.

Definitely the sooner you try to get the ticket, the better deal you will find, I found this very same ticket two weeks ago for $750, I didnt get it because I wasnt sure I was going to be able to.

I hope you can make it... I still cant believe I will be there in the middle of the summer!! biggrin.gif

Wow, you got a great price..... right now we can't find tickets for less than $600.00 Mia-Lim-Mia.
2 weeks ago the price was $520.00

I am thinking about trying priceline.com and seeing if I can name my own price and hope to get it.

I hope you can find a good deal, I have always looked in the airline company website first, they usually dont have any extra fees associated with the tickets.

Don't know if this will help, but there is a weekend getaway fare off A/A good until friday 1-26 23:59hrs. It's their International Weekend Getaway for travel Wednesday to Wednesday 1-29 to 2-7 for $529.

Miami, FL (MIA) Lima, Peru (LIM) $529

Hope this could help someone.

Also try kayak.com it does a search of all the airlines and you can also search 3 days before and after your preferred date. That's how I found my flight on Delta - Phoenix - Atlanta - Lima $697.

sorry for the delays in posting. What a busy couple of weeks. The wedding is done (now on to the AOS process). smile.gif She is here in the US and while loving the US she is not so big on the cold. Sounds like an excellent idea. I'll have to try to fit it in. Gonna venture north Peru to Piura-Mancora 3 days, Trujillo 2 1/2 days and then back home. Want to checkout Chan Chan & the Pyramids of the Sun & Moon. Just kind of sorry not to be able to check out Huaraz sad.gif From what I've seen it is absolutely incredible the mountain ranges there. I am back! I was in Lima for 5 days, the trip was so short... I think I did everything I wanted to though... the main idea was to see my family and spend time with them, that is why none of my friends knew I was coming(I hope they will forgive me!)

I ate soooo much! I think I have gained 7lbs just in those days... But what can I do? My baby needs to have a little bit of REAL Peruvian spices too!! wink.gif

Vi, did you get sick when you were in Lima? I got sick the very last day, I dont know if it was the water or the food... it was weird!! I feel much better now, but I never thought I would get sick in LIMA!!!!! mad.gif

I love Peru!
Depending on how much time you have - Ayacucho is a cool place to visit - especially if you like archaeology. The museums in Lima (especially el museu nacional) are great!
Lake Titicaca is gorgeous and it's worth it to get up early in the morning because that part of the day is amazing. You can go kayaking too.
If you can make it to Bolivia then you can see the ruins of Tiwanaku.
I wish I could go back (I worked in Ayacucho in 2003).
