Hey all
Well, living in the Sunshine State is good sofar! I love going to the beach so I am having a good time over here. I already received my SSN in the mail, only 5 work days after I applied for it. We also set our wedding date, September 6, 2006

! I also have been looking at apartments and houses, because we want to move out of this place after we are married and filled the AOS and EAD, so I am keeping myself busy. All I need now is a drivers licence and a car, but that's already in the works.
Sorry to hear that you guys haven't reveived you package 3 yet Michele. I already heard that people who send in their checklist to receive package 4 also have to wait much longer all of a sudden. Do hope you guys will get your stuff soon!
Rhonda, did you guys receive your package 3 yet?
Until next time, take care all!

Michele and Mark,
We received packet 3 today. We are trying to send it back in the morning. Has Mark received it also? I hope so. Look forward from hearing from one of you. Em and Ed I'm glad to hear that things are moving smoothly for you here in the US. Where was your POE of entry? Did you receive the work authorization stamp? Just wondering because you said you had your social security card? Thanks and best wishes to everyone.

Greetings,
I've been pointed over here by a couple of people. I don't speak Dutch so please be patient with me and if you respond to something I say, please try to do so in English. My fiancee' speaks fluent English so I've never had a problem, but it also means I never learned his language, either.
We're currently just getting together our information and forms for starting the K-1 Process. I'm waiting for him to send me his forms and picture and the proofs he has of our last visit and then I'll be getting everything together to send out. Probably not until next month or so, but I've already started looking through the forums and asking questions.
It's nice to know there are others like us going through this.

Hi Ronda,
Good to hear that you guys finally received you package 3! Hopefully Michele and Mark have received theirs too!
My POE was Orlando. Things went pretty smoothly at immigration over there. I didn't recceive a work authorization stamp though. As fas as I know there aren't many POE's that do that. On my social security card it says..valid for work only with DHS authorization.. so I am not allowed to work until I get my EAD approved. I will try to get some sort of volunteer job though until that approval because if I have to sit at home all the time doing nothing I will go crazy
Take care!

Hey Mark,
One of the things you wil need is your ' internationale geboorteakte' (dus niet je geboorte-uittreksel!). It is mentioned on the checklist send to you with package 3. Police records will be taken care off by the Consulate. I don't know whether you were in the army, but if so I think you will need to get your military records. All that stuff you will have to hand over when you will have your interview.
By the way, sorry to hear that you haven't received you package 3 yet. I've also heard from someone who send in their checklist and after almost 2 weeks of waiting stil haven't received package 4 and their interview date. I don't know, maybe the long wait has got something to do with the 'vakantieperiode' in Holland?
Ah the phone and pc problems.....they suck big time (we've had them too). Well, not long now untill you don't have to get frustrated by that any longer! Just hang in there.....
Take care!

Mark sorry to hear that you haven't recieved your package 3 yet. I was hoping at work today that when I came home I would hear good news from you and Michele. I'm sure you will have it by Monday.
Em and Ed . .. .could you please tell me what you sent back from package 3? Today we sent back the ds 156 and ds 230 two copies and the check list. Where we supoosed to send back the DS 156 K also? It was confusing in the insturctions . . .because it listed 4 forms to fill out and sign and date and then said to send back the DS 156 and DS 230 two copies. If not we will send the other two forms on Monday. Thanks for any advice.
Welcom Arizia and I hope that you are able to move through the process quickly. Post any questions and we will try to answer them. I don't have an answer about translation. We did not have any papers that needed to be translated. Sorry.

Hey Em,
Hmmmmm en waar kan je een "internationaal geboorteakte vandaan halen?
(in English; hmmmm and where do i get the "international birthcertificate" from?
)
Ik zal waarschijnlijk wel een paar vrije dagen van m'n werk (werk 60-70U/week) moeten opnemen om het een en het ander te regelen niet?
(in English; I probably will need a couple days time off work (still working 60-70hrs/week)to take care of things right?)
Hoeveel vrije dagen zou ik nodig hebben om aan de gevraagde info in pakket 3 te voldoen?
(in English; how many days time off will i need to gain all the info requested in packed 3?)
I'm reeeally starting to get very exited here,..............woooooooooooooooohoooooooooo

@Rhonda: The DS 156 K has to be send back as well. I also didn't send that one back straight away because I was also confused by the instructions, but the Consulate just send me another DS 156 K form with a small note saying I had to send that form back too, so it really wasn't such a big problem that I just didn't send it in with all the other stuff.
@Mark: Maybe you could check the website of the 'gemeente' you live in to see if you can fill out some form online to obtain your 'internationale geboorteakte'. I think most 'gemeentes' have that option available these days. If not you will have to go to 'burgelijke zaken' at the 'gemeentehuis'. Be prepared though, one copy of the' internationale geboorteakte' will cost you atleast 10,50. If possible get about 3-5 copies since you will need the thing in the States as well. I can't really tell you how many days you should take off. Basically you have to fill out the required forms in package 3 and send these back and the checklist as well if you have obtained all the necessary stuff they ask for (although you don't need to send any of it in, you take all the stuff they ask for on the checklist with you to the interview). By the way, did you get package 3 in the mail on Saturday?
@Arazia: We didn't need to get any documents translated from Dutch to English. I have heard that things like divorce papers might have to be translated, but I am not 100% sure about this. If you need to have things translated you have to get it done by a certified translator.
Take care all!

Dutch: Hij had een kar vol modder.
English: He was brave in the war.
Dutch: Hij was braaf in de war.
English: He had his troubles for his paines.
Dutch: Hij had druppels voor zijn pijn.
English: Do you need a ticket, Jack?
Dutch: Doe je niet een tikkie gek?
English: The girl with the soft eyes.
Dutch: De kerel met het softijs.
English: What do you mean?
Dutch: Wat doe je, Mien?
English: The play is not fair.
Dutch: De plee is niet ver.
English: No parking here.
Dutch: Niet het park in, heren.
English: She made the noise.
Dutch: Ze meed de neus.
English: It's a long way.
Dutch: Er is een long weg.

Dat wil nog niet zeggen dat we geen humor meer hebben natuurlijk

Ed and I looked at a house today 'cause we really want to get out of this apartment. The house we looked at wasn't too big (2 bed, 1 bath) but it was cosy and it has a huge fenced backyard which means lots of privacy and a nice little project for me to turn it into a flower and plant heaven (+ room plenty of room for a pool). We will be looking at some more places of course, but we bith really liked it and it's affordable on just a 1 income for the moment.. Ah well, I'll keep you guys posted.

Hello everyone. It sounds like things are moving better for everyone. I'm so happy to hear the news about packet 3 and the house hunting sounds exciting. We had a little bit of excitement over here, last night when I called Wilmot at midnight, we was so excited he had a letter from the Embassy. He had waited until I called to open the letter. He thought it was the interview date, but I really didn't think so. Anyway when he opened it it was a letter asking him to summit three forms and that his is case is being processed. I'm confused about this additional letter, but he is faxing it to me shortly and then I will see exactly what it is saying.
I hope you all have great Friday and a good weekend.

Glad to hear that you sent packet 3 and the checklist off. We had an interesting thing happen, another packet 3 was mailed to us last week. Wilmot, filled out all the forms and sent them back in. I told him it probably wasn't necessary. He didn't want to take any chances so he redid them. I keep hoping that we get the interview date sometime this week.
I have been trying to find cheap flights, but I don't seem to be having a lot of luck. Most flights are $800 us dollars. Do any of you have any suggestions.

Thanks for the update! Enjoy the moment, it will also be special when you celebrate with everyone else. Thanks for the good wishes for the interview. Wilmot, has his medical appointment tomorrow. The strange thing is they first told him next Friday, but then today called him and said they had made a mistake. So we were scrambling to get all of the fee's ready, it throw us for a little of a loop. But it was fine, nothing is going to stop us now.

Thanks for asking. We will get the results this week. I don't have any concerns, but it will be good when that is completed. Then we just wait for October 3, 2006!!!!!!
I hope everyone is doing good. . . .it has been extremely cold and cloudy in MN. So it has been kind of depressing. But I just need to think about all of the positive things that are happening to snap out of it.
Take care. . . and wishing the best for everyone.

Hey Em&Ed-how's married life down there in the Sunshine State?

I did post congratulations

on the day you got married-it's ^^^up there (buried) somewhere-hope you saw it and didn't think that I had forgotten!
Keep us posted on how things are going there and AOS and such. Good Luck with it all
Heard anything about the medical yet, Rhonda? Keep us posted.
As for us-Mark has his medical and chest x-ray on Sept 27

and interview on 10 October
Now is basically sit back and wait--
--What suprised me is that after 5 months waiting for an NOA2 how fast things have moved since then!
I am so excited! I know you must be too, Rhonda!

Even though I know that right now there is very little left for
me to do ( until Mark gets here, of course), I am still thinking about the visa/medical/interview
24/7. It's become almost an obsession!!!!
I just want to fast forward time, because now each day seems to be
dragging on towards October!
Anyway, I was just checking in.
Have a great day, everyone!

Mark and Michele glad to hear that everything is going okay. We have not heard anything back from Wilmot's medical. I think we should hear something on Friday. I can't believe how time seems to be standing still, I can't wait until October the 3rd!!!!! Just like I know you can't wait for Oct. 10th. I will let you know if we find out anything from our medical. I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Just a quick update...
We got our NOA1 or the K-1 Visa this past weekend. It's not much but it's something at least. I'm a little worried at the timing of things. If CSC continues at it's current pace, we might get approval as early as November and I was aiming for mid-December. Harry is coming here from December 17-January 4th, so I'm a little worried of his packet 3 getting to his place while he's over here.
His father took a job in another country and the entire family is stressed. He hasn't told them yet about any of this. That worries me, too.

Arazia,
Wilmot always tells me don't let the little things worry you. If you were to receive packet 3 while he was over here you could have some one mail or fax it to you guys then you could fill our the forms and mail them back 1 week before he was going home. It took between a week and two weeks for myself and Michele and Mark to receive our interview dates and medical appointments.
Not telling his family is another issue, that is best left up to the two of you to decide when the best time is. I have not told my parents because I'm afraid they will misjudge Wilmot. The first day he arrives, we plan on going to them that first week and telling them about us. My mom worries and has anxiety that she would have never been able to handle all of the ups and downs of this process. Her main wish is that I meet someone nice you love and respects me and my children. So once she meets him in person it will be fine. On the other hand all of my friends and co-workers know and they can't wait for Oct. 3 and the approved VISA. So sometimes it is best to look at your situation to determine who is the best to tell at certian times.
Wishing you the best and please don't get too worried. I think it is great that he will be here with you during Christmas. Enjoy your visit and be happy that he will be here sometime late winter!!
Sorry. . .Michele and Mark how is everything? We have not heard anything back from Wilmot's medical so I 'm assuming everything is fine. It seems like the next 13 days are moving so slow. I keep wishing I could wake up and it was Oct. 3rd! But like everything else you can never change time.
