I was never a regular lottery player until my husband came over in February. We play biweekly (buying a single $1 ticket each time), but our biggest payday has been only $2 blink.gif crying.gif "What a waste of effort," you say? Boy do I know!

I was just wondering if anyone here has ever won anything besides chump change and/or how often you play. ... I've never knowingly met a lottery winner, but maybe I've been corresponding with some lucky VJ members who've hit it big tongue.gif

At home, I'd buy the occasional scratch tickets -- the most I won on those was $100.

In Canada, the lottery never gets to the crazy amounts that PowerBall gets to here in the States. When it would get to $15m or so, I'd buy a ticket for fun. The most I've ever won on that was $250.

My biggest prize was not lotto, it was a promotion for the phone company back home. I won one of the two main prizes -- a trip for two for a week all expenses paid to Paris, France. it was pretty sweet!

I can't answer the poll. I play less than monthly but more than never.

i can't answer either, blah! anyway i never play. I'm too cheap, don't like odds, i think it's a waste of money.

Played a long time ago when I lived in CA, but don't anymore. I think I won $100 one time.

my grandfather won ages ago ... he hit for $4.4m. in the 80's all they offered was the once a year payment for 20 years. he ended up giving 10% to each of his 6 children, 20% to my grandmother(wife) & 20% to himself - he payed less taxes that way.

last year was the last of the yearly installments ... i think my dad wound up getting about $20K a year and my grandparents combined was about $80K. of course, many moved to florida after the win!! laughing.gif

i was in 8th grade at the time and all i remember is that classmates would constantly ask to borrow money from me!! i was like: dude, it was my grandfather ... not me! laughing.gif

anyway ... i figured he's ruined it for the rest of the family ... but since we're true gamblers ... i still play every week! good.gif

The Idaho border is only a couple of hours away! You could make a day trip of it: drive up through Cache valley, get some lotto tickets at the first convenience store you hit in Idaho, and then on your way back, stop at the Pepperidge Farm factory and get some Milanos and goldfish crackers from their outlet store.

mmmmmm... milanos.....

Once the powerball gets big and juicy we usually buy a ticket. A couple months ago when it was +300million we were just a couple numbers off.. we about peed ourselves ohmy.gif . Made $100 though. I always have fun dreaming about the possibilities whereas my husband prefers to think about the responsibility involved .. he is no fun sometimes!

Once he asked what kind of "car" we would get. I said.. don't you mean cars? He then said.. " I think I would get a limo to drive me to work".. I said.. what you mean work? He and I just not on the same page on that one laughing.gif soooo I guess it is best we have not won the big one till we get that all straightened out.
