I'v been kinda lost here since I got the letter from the NVC. I'm not sure how to check the status of our petition since that letter. I dont even know the date it was sent to the consulate or if it even was yet. We would like to have an idea when we can recieve packet 3.. Is there someplace online where we can check our case number or something?

You have to E-Mail the consulate to find out the status from here on out. I'm guessing your case is going to be held up a bit by this IMBRA rule though.

Uh.. even though we got our NOA-1 in February? Will it still be re-called back to the states? I have a feeling our packet 3 will get held up for a while though..

Song- you really should put up your timeline to assist us in helping you. whistling.gif Looking at the processing times, you can expect to wait roughly two months between NOA2 and receiving the packet 3 (sometimes a little less...in my case a little more).

OH, my bad. I was using Mike's timeline and going backwards and figured since he already got pack 3 his entire timeline would have predated yours, but that is not the case, since he was a Vermont Baby and his petition was approved in 1 week.

His timeline is up to date. He just doesn't have it in his signature. This is actually the approach the VJ administrators prefer.

songsparrow,

The process we took after receiving our NOA2 was this:

I called the NVC weekly to check and see if our petition had arrived. I was finally successful on one call and the nice woman on the phone told me the arrival date of our petition to NVC and also the date (in our case the next day) it was shipped to the US Consulate in HCMC.

After receiving this date information from NVC, there is some unofficial tracking you can do via the DHL website. I've included a link to a post by Peter_Miami with instructions on how to unofficially track your package. The reason it is unofficial is because you don't have an exact tracking number for the package of your petition. However, the DHL website will show what packages were sent to which consulates/embassies on what dates. You can then track that package and see when it was delivered. However, as I said before, there is no way of knowing if it is officially your petition.

Link: Tracking Instructions for DHL

After this process I gave it about a week before calling (or you can email with a slower reply) the US Consulate in HCMC to see if our petition had been received. All they would say is the standard response that it takes time for the received petitions to be processed into the system. The NVC automatically sends an electronic notification of your petition to the Consulate in HCMC, and the consulate will more than likely tell you this is all they've received at that time.

After this I pushed the patience button on. I think it was about a month after the unofficial DHL delivery date that we received our packet 3. Hope this helps you out!
