Hi everyone, my fiance and I both live in Mexico and we were planning to make the trip to Ciudad Juarez together for his medical exam and interview. But now seeing that the travel costs will add up to quite a bit, I am thinking about sending him by himself. Do I (the U.S. citizen) really need to be there? I have read that now they don't even let the petitioner enter the Consulate.

I appreciate any advice!

Maria,
I hope all is well with you and your amor.
To answer your question: NO, you do not have to go.
I went, but (it was a long story), the first day I wa not let in. The second day and third day the y let me in. I was there during the interview. The questions were very generic and my wife answered most of the questions. Essentially all of the questions ere directed are her but i can't keep my mouth shut. whistling.gif

I guess you would go if you could. I hope you can find a way, the moral support for the partner suer helps a lot.

buena suerte!

Barring some extreme stroke of luck, the Consulate will NOT let you (the U.S. citizen) in on the day of the interview. I went, and I'm glad I was there for moral support, but I was not allowed in and sat on the street corner for 6 hours. You definitely are not required to go. buena suerte good.gif
