I'm determined to let this happiness tide me over the next couple of weeks (my last weeks of first-year teaching haha)!

Where in California will you be moving to? And what hotel or hotels are you looking at for Montreal? I don't know Montreal that well, so will have to do some research on the different hotels/motels nearby. That'll have to wait 'til the weekend...

Everyone mentions the La Tour Centre Ville as being reasonable and closeby the Embassy. I'm also looking at two Delta Hotels because I can use points. The Delta Centre Ville is 1 km away and the Delta Montreal is .5 km. We're months away from the interview, but I'd like it to be a romantic event in a nice place with room service.

congrats

back to sacramento, where i was born & raised...

and we're looking at Le Square Phillips ... i'm not sure if i'm going to go with my husband, as we have two small children, and flights for all of us are a bit pricey. his interview is on a friday, so he's looking to enjoy a weekend in montreal. he went to university there, so i think he's planning to hit some of his old stomping grounds. devil.gif

My husband stayed at Delta Montreal 3 years ago. That's the one on President Kennedy. He liked it, although they had some problems with the hot water in the first room they put him in. When he complained, they quickly moved him to another room.

Echomyst, my husband is in Glendale (between Burbank and Pasadena) right now. We're hoping to move though as he doesn't like the neighborhood.

According to my mom, Le Square Phillips is nice. They have big rooms and she said it's very clean. The consulate is behind this hotel.

The NVC automated response system said that our case had been forwarded to Montreal, but we haven't received anything by mail yet.

Keeping our fingers crossed! kicking.gif

Congratulations everyone and good luck. Fingers crossed for those still waiting. I know how much of a pain it is; you feel they lost your stuff or something.

I stayed at La Tour Centreville as well. I'd recommend it. Right across the street, the bistro beside it serves b/fast all day.

I booked a studio at Centreville for the 17th .. they first quoted 125 for the room but when I told them it was for a consulate interview and that I would call back to book they told me that when I called back they would give me the corporate rate .. I booked cost $97

LOL I'm so mad! I paid 150 for the 1 to 2 person room. I didn't know you could get a discount. I should email them and complain. They knew I was going to the embassy before I ever paid for the room. Argh. devil.gif
