Hi myself and my son had our medical yesterday..the nurse told us that the embassy will closed the whole of August...has anybody else heard of this? she said that it is always closed in August, just seems a bit strange to me.

umm strange - i did a timeline search for last year and there were a few interviews in august but the were in the first week. Damn I hope they are not closed as mine should be arround end jully/early august

Thats what i was thinking also..i was hoping to get mine in July...fingers crossed for both of us

The Embassy is NOT closed during the month of August, I have just been on the telephone to them and have been assured that that is not the case

If you go onto the US Embassy London website it will also show you what Public Holidays they take there just in case you ever need to phone them

It's a public service you preformed. Every time my fiance flew in to visit my family was subjected to, "If they deny him entry I will leave this country and never return! NEVER!" My mommy calls it dramatic...

You should expect, however, that the interview schedule will be lighter in the summer due to employees on holidays and such.

But yes, the Embassy is indeed open, as is the consular section. Remember that the purposes of an Embassy are many, including assisting American citizens abroad, and thus it takes quite a lot to completely close an Embassy.

My husband's interview was last August, the second week. I do recall, vaguely, something about certain types of interviews not being held in the last two weeks of August. It was not, however, anything to due with immigrant visas. However, things DO tend to slow down a bit in summer. My huband's CR-1 application left New Hampshire the first week of June, and he didn't get his interview date till mid-August.
