I have been searching for a free online language translation web site. They have many for french, spanish, german and other more common languages, but I can't seem to find a good Yoruba or Igbo one (I'm particularly interested in Yoruba though). Does anyone know of one? There is a website of a professor who actually teaches the class and has online instructions. You might have to google for "online yoruba classes" to see if it comes up. I'll try on my end.

I've also tried to find an Igbo translator online, but to no avail. So now, I sat with my husband and Naija friends and just pickup and learn their language. I have actually learned a bit, but can't really use it to have a meaningful conversation in Igbo language. But I use what I have learn and mix it up with their "broken" language and make my conversations. They are really having a blast laughing at me. I think it's pretty cool and funny too though. So now, my husband and his friends will call me at home just to hear me greet them in their own language or say something funny. Im also surprising a lot of them, because when they speak their own language, i just jump in sometimes and say it in english and they be like "damn, u know what we are talking about." I almost always know what they are really talking about. Now they all are calling me an "African" woman. Most of the time my husband and I usually speak in broken. Im trying to get ready for the family reunion scheduled in Philly in August and also my sister n law is getting married in December, so I want to be ready for the conversations. Also, when my inlaws call from Naija, I always greet them in Igbo, and they really enjoy it.

Wow Imma check that out myself...Since Jide from Yoruba tribe..i wonder if i make my request in his language i get them faster? hahahahahahh nah i think he would be thrilled. I think its awesome to learn your mates language...going that extra mile is awesome..and I wish you all the best..keep me posted too on any sites.
