Okay...call me Ms. Impatience, but I got an anxious moment and emailed NVC 2 days ago regarding the receipt of my I-130. This is the response I got:



The National Visa Center (NVC) recently received this petition. We are in
the process of entering the petition information into the computer system
and assigning a case number. Upon completion of this process, the
appropriate agent (applicant, petitioner, or attorney) will receive
instructions for the further processing of this petition.


Well...it's good to know they've got it. Even if I don't know the case number yet.

You are on right track. NVC will assign you a case number and mail you and your spouse to select a choice of agent (DS-3032). The choice of agent will receive all future correspondence from NVC. Please read about NVC short cut on Aussiewench's signature.

Actually, I have a copy of that printed and by my bed. I study it like a life manual. I just wanted to know our case number.....lol. As of this morning, we have one. As for DS-3032, we have those already to go. But, as a result of over thinking, I'm worried that we have done them incorrectly. Does my husband appoint me as the agent or is it the other way around? I'm sorry to sound like such an airhead. It's just that nothing has ever been this important to me ever in my life!!

To save time in the NVC process it is better to assign the USC as agent because of international mailing times. The only issue that can come up is later on. My packet 4 from consulate in here in Australia went all the way to the US lol I think from memory the same happened with euro and she was UK as well. Its no biggie though and the benefits far out weigh.
