My fiance was here on a J1 this past year and had a social security number that he used for work. I know he still has to wait for his EAD to work but can he use this same one or does he need to get a new one?? Also does anyone have any experience with getting the drivers license in Ohio while waitng for the greencard?

The SSN is still valid. The card if still in his posession is also still valid.
Its his number for life.
