I started legally driving at 15 years old with an adult present on my learner's permit and got my full license at 16 years old. I've been driving for 33 years. My wife got her first and only license at age 43 in 2004 shortly after arriving in America. Of course she practiced for a while on a learner's permit before taking the test...and passed it on the first try.

Got mine when I was 22, after I had my kid!

I was scared to get my license, but after going through childbirth, my attitude changed. If I can do that, I can do anything! Heeheehee

Got my permit when I was 16, and with driver's ed got my license at 17. Driver's ed... good times... running over mailboxes... driving to dunkin donuts...

that's my idea of education. Too bad none of my other classes have ever been that good.

I went to an adult driving school and 90% of the students were older immigrants. So, I was the youngest one there. The driving part of the classes was one-on-one, just the instructor and me. Good luck!

21 years old when I got my UK license..and 36 when I got my US one
I'm an oddball American--even without living in a big city, I didn't get my driver's license until I was 21. I had a learner's permit for three years--I kept getting it renewed.

I'm cool, though, 'cause I learned how to drive a standard--something that very few Americans my age know how to do!

My first car was a standard, in fact--a very old Toyota Camry. I miss it dearly sometimes, except when I'm stuck at a red light going uphill.

How'd you get out to Cherry Hill to see films and buy cheap booze?
I earned my G1 (learner's permit) at 16. G2 (licence but blood-alcohol level of 0) at 17 1/2. Full G at 19 (BAL of 0.8, I think). That said, I didn't own a car until five months ago.

I went to driving school last year... but i think there were more younger kids there bc AZ has horrid public transit, and the city is so big. I finally got my license at 21. I recommend finding an "independent" driving instructor. My friend went to one, it cost the same as a school, except she never had to sit in a classroom.

I was 26 and not a good driver when I got the licence so I promptly wrecked the car (to $1,500 in damage) -- about 1 month after. I paid out of pocket rather then tell the insurance about the accident. So, invest in good driver's ed!

I got mine when I was 18.
I used a private instructor rather than going throuh driver's ED classes.
I felt kind of behind all my friends becuase they got theirs at 16, but then I thought about it, and my older brother didn't get his until he was 22, so I was just about right.

17.
I'd done one roadtest attempt (failed) before my 17th birthday through a driving school (where I'd gotten training); success after some practice (with my sister as "copilot"--my dad sucked grossly at such, and refused to even admit that his attitude had nasty effects)

yup a month after i turned 18, because u can only ask for one when u turn 18 and it has a lot of bureaucracy, otherwise i'd get it the day i turned 18, or if i could when i was 14 (i was an excellent driver back then already)
