It's the cheapest one so far that I found, I was using Other one's but this is the Best yet. And you can use your home phone (instead of your Mic and Headphones) I called van this morning and it worked great. With calling cards I was paying about 10.00 for 1 Hour now just 3.60 for that Hour.

You can use your PC or Your Home Phone. To use your home phone you need to place you home PH# in the Program and It will Ring you Home Phone# then it will call your destination #. Pretty easy.

Yes you get copies of #s dialed with time and date. If you use your home phone it will show the # where you dialed from and to. I use comcast internet and it works very good. The cost of this call was in Euro but I paid 1.86 USD.

I made this call this morning using the program and my home Phone. If you use just your computer It wont put your your Home # on your Copy

FYI,

You don't have to use the Program, You just make a account, and on the main page they have it web Based. you have a place to put your # and the # that you want too call. But you do need to use the program to setup your account.

Other Companys that I have used
Comcast International calling to Vietnam cost me .65 per min. Did that one only twice 40.00 per Hour crying.gif

Skype cost .33 per min
VoipBuster .24 per min
VoipDiscount .14 per Min

And of course all the calling cards. 10.00 per hour

You can use your cell phone, Instead of putting your home # in the program you put your cell#.
you can not place a call from your cell or your Home phone.
You do have to use your computer and a internet connection to place any calls

I'm just letting you all know that Vietinam has one of the highest rates out there. And I came across this and it works real good for me. It's just so cheep I can talk with van even more than 3 times per week. I'm not sure it's cheaper on other countries but Vietinam is real good.
mike1972e
Ok I understand now. Thanks so much, it really is a great rate. Just be careful because the 6 cents rate is for calling their home phone, cell rates are about 4 times that. My fiancee works usually 6 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. So as you know this is evening time for us therefore I cannot call her. When she comes home from work I am at work, so I can't use this. I really wish I could because it is such a great rate. I use Gorilla mobile and Zaptel. These rates are .27/minute. I bet those conversations will get much longer now, and good for all of you, because I have such a hard time not calling my fiancee twice a day, one to wake her up and once before she goes to sleep.

Thanks for the phone tip. Before this, I was paying about $0.16/min before.

I would also like to suggest a couple of other means of communication of which I have been using for free provided that she has a computer and a webcam on her side. We have been talking about 4 hours a day for the past 3 months. I often speak with her twice a day before her bedtime and before she goes to work. I know this does not apply to everyone.

I use Sightspeed.com and Skype.com video conferencing. My lady has a laptop and a webcam just like me and we can see each other with good quality every day. It has been great saving on the communication cost. Skype does provide a log of calls as well as Sightspeed. However, Sightspeed only tracks the last rolling 100 calls. I used to use Yahoo Messenger with voice and with video but its quality is just not there. You pretty get full motion with Skype and Sightspeed.

Besides, it is really nice to see her and to be able to talk to her in person every day. It is the next best thing to being there with her.

In addition, I also use my cellphone to text message her. It costs me about $5/month on Sprint for 100 messages or $8/mo. for 500 messages. I was told that it is affordable for her on her cell phone to receive and send messages as well. We tell each to turn on the computer using the text messages.

So between these two means of communication, I rarely use the direct phone calling except for an occasionally midday hello.

By the way, you probably already knew this, she can call us using a computer and a calling card for about 3 cents per minute via www.usvoizvn.us.

I hope this will help some of you. Again many thanks for the phone tip.

Tony,

Can you give me some more info about the text messaging? I also use sprint, but I tried sending her a few messages but she never got them. Maybe I am dialing the number wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Great info!

I will definitely pass this on to my family in St. Louis and let them know of a cheaper rate if they need to contact me in an emergency while I'm here in Vietnam.

I use RingVoiz and Skype to call home to St. Louis from Vietnam. I'm not sure if there is any call detail that could be used for evidence purposes, but it is certainly a cheaper alternative.

Perhaps some of you could do some calling on your end for good evidence records, and then if she has a computer and ADSL internet connection in her home, she could call you cheaper for more talk time.

Okay, now I am REALLY pissed off. I'm trying to set up my account for this service, and it comes to the part in the form where you are supposed to put your phone number in in international format, which for the US is supposed to start with 011(1?) but I keep getting rejected because my "phone number is incorrect"

Someone tell the idiot here what his phone number is supposed to look like if in the U.S. he dials

No, that wasn't it either. My wife figured it out eventually though. It's 0017145551212. She's got a call going to her mother now and says the quality is very clear biggrin.gif <--with that expression. Those limeys must have good phone lines.

24 minutes for 1.28 Euros ($1.65). That's bloody unbelievable. I love you Robert. Too bad you live in Oregon or I would buy you a bowl of pho.
Tony/Anthea
Mike,

I usually reply to her message and she does the same to me. To start from scratch, here is how I do it: in the menu of Messaging, I select Send Message, Text, and in Mobile # line, I enter 01184 her phone number without the first 0 (my lady's cell number start with 0983......). So I would enter 01184983.....

In Vietnam, it depends on which mobile phone company she is using. If she is using Viettel, I believe I had to enter a "+1" and our area code and phone number. We message each other a few times a day and it is very convenient. There is a limited number of characters per message, I think it is around 150.

Once you can get the first message through on either end, you can just reply to that message then it keeps going. I hope it will work for you.

Hi STL_HCMC,

I used Ringvoiz to call home too. And you can get a complete printout of your calls with all the details. You can even change the time zone you are in as well. I remember that there is a button on the dialer called CALL LOG that you can press to get your log. If not, you can also go to their website and enter your card code and get the log as show at this link for my last card:

http://202.8.41.51/viewlog/viewlog.php?pre...55149502&sid=US

For Skype, under History, you can bring up your call logs and just print that. It shows her Skype name and yours with time, date, and length of each video call. With a webcam, it is such a wonderful communication tool.

I signed up for this today and it was kind of easy to set up. Unfortunately the quality is terrible. After multiple calls all I can get is a connection that at best is unbearable.

For the first week It was a real good connection, Then this week not so good. What I did this week I would make a call and listen for the first ring, I can tell if i was going to be a good conection or not by the Ring, If it wasn't I just hang up and try again. The most times I had to do this was 3 times. It's ok as long as there is speed dial.
Matt_Stevens
I kept trying and got a good connection. So, basically you will need to just keep trying to get a good connection.
