The I-130/I-129F guides mention that one of the documents to be included with the application is "certified copy of marriage certificate". But what all USCIS requires (at the time of filing) is JUST a photocopy of your marriage certificate. The copy does not have to be a certified or notorized one.

I have seen a lot of people (including me) in this forum asking this question as to whether the marriage certificate needs to be certified or notorized?

I think that the instruction/checklist should be more explicit in that it should read "Copy of your marriage certificate" -- just as the instructions on the form I-130 itself reads.

Can the administrators or the owner of the guide make this change, please? It will be helpful for all new members.

I am amazed by the active participation of members in this forum and we definitely need such a community to get through often long and arduous immigration journey.
