Hi,

I dont expect my EAD until the second week in august. When would be a good time to start applying for jobs?

I am itching to work and start earning so i can feel like a man again. On another note i sent in my papers last week for the greencard through express post. It hasnt arrived in chicago yet.I checked online and there has been no progrss yet. The only update is that the post office in the tow i live received the package and preparing to send. Surely it doesnt take a week to get to chicago or even 4 days.

If you submitted your EAD application along with your AOS last week, you may get your EAD approval sooner than the second week of August. The EAD is usually approved first (before AOS and AP).

Good luck with the job hunting.

This probably isn't the anwer you want to hear....

We ended up finding it pretty much pointless for Wes to look for work prior to actually being ABLE TO START, which of course is not until you have EAD in hand.

That being said, IF you are highly marketable, you may find an employer who wants you and you only, and is willing to wait for you. I've seen it on VJ...it's not unheard of.

We just found it clumsy to explain to people that he was job shopping but couldn't come to work yet. They looked at us like we were nuts.

No, I think the OP has the right timeframe. It's possible that his EAD will be approved before 90 days, but it's better to assume the worse (that it will take 90 days, which would take him to mid-August) rather than try his luck that he'll get it earlier. Especially since he hasn't gotten NOA1 yet.

To the OP, good luck! I'm not sure what to tell you, but I agree that if you have a highly marketable skill you may be able to convince an employer to hire you before getting an EAD. If I were you I'd start looking at the beginning of August at the latest, since it may take several weeks for employers to get back to you, and you should have your EAD by then!

I am in the computer support industry if that is considered a highly marketable job.
