How hard is it for a Vietnamese person in Vietnam to get a tourist VISA for USA or Canada?


I spent 8 months in Vietnam with her, and now I'd like for her to come and spend some time with me here.

Which VISA is easiest to obtain - USA or Canada?
How much would it cost?
How long would it take to process?

Also, if we did decide to get married and do the K1 fiance Visa could I do all the paperwork on my own? How long timewise and how much would it cost after everything is said and done?

It's usually hard as damn hell, but it would depend on her financial status and personal assets in Vietnam.

You cannot geet married and do a K1 fiance visa, but if you decide to stay engaged it is pretty easy to do the K-1 on your own. You can do the whole thing for under $500.

I don't have any direct experience with this, however, what I've heard from those I work with in Vietnam, the difficulty in obtaining a tourist visa for a Vietnamese to the United States is just as Dalegg has described it, "... hard as damn hell."

I didn't want to say the same thing Dalegg already told you, but I did want to reinforce his reply with what I've heard from locals here in Vietnam!

Not that hard if your fiance/lover is 76 years old like my parents-in-law. They can get visa within 10 days of the application receipt, to come visit us here for 6 months.

BUT,

Somehow, I don't think it's the case here... Your fiance/lover must be young and sweet, without any major financial asset in her name (Business she owns, houses, lands, factory etc.). Then as Dale said, almost impossible, hard as dawn hell...

if you spend sometimes read up on the Guides and FAQ's, then you can decide which route to go. Under $500 is JUST for the fees to apply your I-129F and stuff.... You will be spending more than that natually, but def. less than retaining an immigration lawyer to do the K-1 for you. (THANKS TO VJ)

Beside the age factor and huge assets in Vietnam, applicants for tourist visa must be able to convience the CO that he/she has significant tie in Vietnam and he/she is going to return to Vietnam after the trip.

yes it depends on the situation she is in... but good luck if you try!
