Sweetiewynn,

This is IT, my friend. I do believe this is the "mysterious" department inside the State Department that Mrs. C told me about. When I faxed the letter to Legal Net, Mrs. C told me that they then transfered my letter to the appropriate department. You should contact your elected officials (Senator, Congressman, whoever is willing to help) to get the ball rolling. For now, you know where you are and what they are after. All you have to do is to prove them wrong and in no time, your sweetie will be with you.

Congrats and god speed
Matt_Stevens
Progress. Isn't it amazing that those people could not and cannot JUST ASK HIM?!?!?!?! I mean, how hard would it be for them to ASK HIM about their question last year? Disgusting.

Nathan and Nha, I am praying for you both. Good luck and keep us posted!

sweetiewynn,

Excellent to see some light shed on your case! Like you said, at least you have a suspecting reason now why your case might be held up. That is better than knowing nothing at all - as you had previously.

Best of luck to you both, and do keep all of us posted on the progress of your case!

I love you too, but your wife has had her green card long enough to where you've been moved up and out of the list- consider it a graduation. I have to make room for other guys who have moved up (like nychang who just got the green card) and all the new members that just entered. We got a few newbies today, plus Anh map who has not gotten his NOA1s yet.

And that pxtran is gone too. Hasn't been on VJ for 6 months. Never told us what happened at the interview. mad.gif

I went and toured the fish sauce refinery (I call it a refinery for a reason) on Phu Quoc island last year...and I can't believe I still eat that stuff after I saw how it was refined. By the way, Yen is pregnant.

Well...they put a bunch of dead fish in a bunch of big barrels, throw in a bunch of salt with it, let it rot for a while and then press all the dead fish so that all the liquid oozes out of them....this liquid is the "fish sauce" that you and I enjoy. smile.gif yum yum smile.gif

Aren't you moving to North Carolina too?

Just Curious....

Good Luck, once you get that 1st year out of the way and she finally settles in, it's much easier. Again, I found the visa process eaiser than my wife's initial adjustment to the U.S..

Once my wife got her drivers license after 5 months, it was much easier also......

No, no visa yet. I feel lucky this time to get a visa. I am still waiting for the visa unit to say to us... We have your file from NVC and we will schudule a interview ??? I thought my posted timeline would set to "mood" still waiting, but feel lucky "this time" in addition to the reaffirmed letter from Nebraska I hire an attorney in VN who is very active at the consulate in HCM. He lives and pratice immigration law in Vietnam. sorry innocent.gif didn't mean to mislead hope. When I posted the inquire I had a brief, very brief moment that something would change. The waiting for me, at this stage is like trying to fry bacon in the Antartica but I left the gas can at home...ya know what I mean.

Check my ongoing thread, guys and gals. Yes, I got sick, but then Anh get VERY sick. She has viral Meningitis and likely caught it from me (I caught it from my mom, who caught it from a child of a friend, we think). I and mom never had symptons. But Anh has had her body attacked furiously by the virus. sad.gif

All of this on top of the very difficult adjustment. It's been harder than she anticipated and she is really upset that she cannot work for the next 3 to 4 months. She really is afraid she will go out of her mind with boredom.

Right now all I care about is her fever going away for good and her getting healthy.

Hi Huan,

I would imagine processing times through the NVC vary from case to case. Wait three to five more days and give them a call again.

When I finally did learn of my case arriving and departing, they were more than happy to tell me the dates it arrived and departed.

Best of luck!

....DaleGG and others here....

Thought I would let you all know Yen and I had the AOS interview Thursday Nov 2, and we passed. I hadn't mentioned much about it here. To me the big thing has always been to GET HER HERE, wich she has been now for over a year and a half.

Another reason it hasn't been that big a deal for us is that my wife has been working at her cousins nail shop (albeit illegally) since she got here so we weren't relying on the green card for her to go to work or anything.

The reason it took so long (over 1 year just to get the interview) was that INS made a clerical error and entered in my address as being 91st street instead of 41st street. Pray to god they don't do this to you. Getting them get ALL their computers etc correected is a LONG and frustrating process involving SEVERAL phone calls to several people trying in vain to explain the situation untill you finally get someone competant enough to help you.

Needless to say the interveiw for us was extremely simple and easy. They only asked me how I met her and how I had learned vietnamese. They only asked her if she had done any ilegal drugs or been arrested. He looked at the life insurance policy I brought, the medical bills I brought from our pregancy and he also wanted a couple of my recent pay stubs and my tax return from 2005 and W-2 from 2005, wich I brought with me in case they wanted them....my 2003 and 2004 returns were in the file already, but since it was over a year old I thought they might want the current stuff too (wich they did and I am glad I had it with me.) Our interviewer was very courteous and easy to speak with. Also, we were his last case that day so that might of helped as I think he wasn't interested in spending very much time on us. We were in and out in under 20 minutes....

The thing I was most happy about was actually passing this thing on the first try. We failed the first interview in Vietnam at the consulate, and just getting this interview was a 1 year nightmare, so I went into this fully expecting to fail just because that seems to be how it goes. I am so glad that this thing is done with. kicking.gif

Well congratulations on the success. I found our interview to be pretty easy also, but I've also heard that the 10 year green card is a tougher interview, so be ready for that.

Our thread has been pretty quiet lately.... let me try to get things back on track (if i may)...

Lan's AOS is stuck in "FBI name check" limbo. It's been this way for about 4 months. I was told by the USCIS offier at our Infopass appointment that it might help if I showed up at the embassy in HCMC and requested the name check to prod things along. Since we're going to be in Vietnam in Feb anyway, I thought maybe we should give it a shot.

I know some of you are living in Vietnam -- do you guys think this might actually work???

And while I am at it -- for those of you in HCMC, how'd you like to meet with us on the evening of Feb 9? We were planning to have a little party at a restaurant somewhere in the city for Lan's friends and I think it would be great if some of you could make it. Please email me (rao_anand@yahoo.com) if you are interested!
