Hello,

I received an appointment letter in the mail yesterday for my biometrics. The date on the notice was for May 29th which is a holiday. I called the USCIS to find out why I was scheduled for biometrics on a government holiday. They put me on hold for almost 30 minutes then said that there are other people that got scheduled on the same day and they would call me back when they figure it out.

Is anyone else in this situation? If they don't get back to me should I go to my appointment on Monday anyways just to see if they are open for some reason?

It says on the notice that if I don't go to the appointment then my application would be considered abandoned and I must apply again.

How far is the INS office? It sounds like a big screw up because it's Memorial Day and all the offices should be closed, but who knows.
If it's not far and you don't get an answer about the problem I would at least drive over there and then tell them We'll your office was closed when I got there.
Just stupid that they can't give you an answer.

The office is an hour drive so not too bad.

Well to my surprise I got a call today from USCIS and they told me to go on May 30th for my biometrics instead of the 29th. I asked if they would be sending another appointment letter and he said no just bring your old one. I asked if they knew I was coming and he said not really but everyone who got scheduled for May 29th was rescheduled for the 30th.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything goes smooth on Tuesday and they don't tell I don't have an appointment.

Heh...my husband was scheduled for Tuesday, I wonder if there will be a long wait because they'll be overloaded with people who were scheduled for Monday!

I went to my biometrics appointment today and was told by the guy at the front desk to come back on Saturday. I told him that when I called the USCIS info line they told me to come back on May 30th and he told me that they were wrong. So now I guess I just go on Saturday and hope everything is good with my case. How do I know if everything is ok? I don't want them to say I abondoned my case and I don't want my stuff to get all lost or messed up from being rescheduled so many times. I think I will try calling the USCIS info line tomorrow and tell them what happened.

GRRRR this is so frustrating. Thank god it was only an hour drive to Orlando and not 3 or 4 hours.

Well that is typical, bloody government sends you an appointment letter for when they are off and then tell you to go back on Saturday (when they are usually off) I like you would not be a happy bunny, hope you get it all cleared up soon.

WOOO! I went on Saturday to get my biometrics and even though the office hours said "CLOSED SATURDAY" they still did them for me. Now I just have to wait for my EAD. I have a job offer and they want me to start in
September so I am really hoping I get my EAD and SSN by the end of August.
