ACK! This is driving me crazy that London isn't open on weekends...

My fiance returned the Packet 3 on 1 April... somehow he lost the post office receipt and we never did see if it was signed for or not. I've been playing the as-patient-as-possible game, emailing the consulate once a week to see if they've received it yet, and every week was that standard "we have no record of receiving the forms to which you refer" email. Since I've read about that on here I didn't really panic. BUT - in last week's email, I added the date he mailed the papers in and mentioned it has been over 6 weeks. On Thursday I got a reply:

"Please advise us of the date on which you mailed the documents to the Embassy. On receipt of this information we will advise you further."

I emailed back with the date (even though I had included it in the first email that this was the reply to), and quickly received an automated response that London's taking 3-4 days to respond to emails. uggghhhhh..... so since Thursday I've been wondering more and more, did they never receive his packet 3? Are we going to have to resubmit it and start that whole part over again? We've already had SO many delays... I hope I get a reply from them tomorrow or I really will go crazy! wacko.gif

Has anybody else ever gotten this email? It didn't really look like one of those automatic ones, but I'm not sure... I'm sorry for the rant, I hardly ever speak up around here even though I'm around often... worrying is never fun! Anybody have any experience with this? And thank you for listening!!!

Hmmm.....looks to me like they are looking for it. It's not a standard canned response. I see you've a big gap between receiving and returning Packet 3......maybe they are having to dig a bit deeper to find you?

That could be it... there was a problem with my fiance's police report, they lost his initial request for it or something and he didn't get it for like 3 months, so he waited until he actually had it in hand before returning the forms for Packet 3. We figured it would be better to delay that part of it and have his police report in hand, then get an interview date without the report... who knows though, I guess you're sort of at their mercy no matter how you try to go about it! I like your way of thinking about it, that they're actually working on it. With how things have gone, I've gotten used to just assuming the worst tongue_ss.gif thanks for reminding me it might be positive!

I would stay on top of this though. Royal Mail could have lost it....hopefully not but you never know! Stick with e-mailing till you get to the bottom of it.

For te London Embassy, mail items most often go thru the West London office of the royal mail - have you tried getting in touch with them and seeing what items they delivered to the US Embassy that they had signed for mail on or around the first few days in April?
I know they usually require the track n trace ID number, but it might be worth calling them to find out?

he decided to just send another round of the forms out, which the consulate ended up telling us to do anyway. i told him about calling the post office, but his work hours are so awful and he rarely gets breaks so there's next to no possibility of him calling (also getting to be a big problem in the area of scheduling a medical appointment...) if they find them somehow it'll be a bonus at this point, although to be technical we're a few days short of the 8 weeks they say it takes. think positive think positive think positive!!!

thank you guys for all your help, i really appreciate it!!
