After receiving an email from the embassy stating my husband could come to the embassy in Lagos, Nigeria to pick up his packet, he arrived there today and got the I-129 packet and an interview date for November 3, 2008. We had wanted to go through with the I-130 for the interview but first they didn't have it there and the interviews are scheduled out till next year. So he wisely chose to go the I-129 path and got his packet. Now we will have to do the AOS (adjustment of status) which costs 1000$ but he will be here sooner. I wanted to let anyone who hasn't gotten their packet in Lagos yet to know that the interviews are way out for the I-130's so you might want to start saving for the AOS, as if plane tickets and the rest of the process aren't enough to worry about! Also, wanted to give anyone going to Lagos to pick up the packet, my husband said the man waiting on him although a fellow Nigerian was very RUDE to him, made him go back and sit and wait an hour only to return and wait on another man who was older than my husband to whom the rude man apologized for making that man wait (cause he'd gone to a meeting) while he made my husband continue to sit there and wait some more!! Hmmmm..... Oh and don't take your cellphone cause if you do you can't take it into the embassy and my husband (although I told hm NOT to) took his and had a woman hold his phone and key and she insisted he pay her 10$ for doing so after he got out of the embassy. So all and all a bit of a bumpy ride going through to get the packet but....HE HAS HIS INTERVIEW!! WOO HOO!
