Hey guys! I haven't been on all weekend because we went on that crazy camping trip with what seemed like an elemantary school of kids. Let's say I'm glad to be home.......

Amal...I have lots of nights like those. Sometimes I think I have insomnia and then i will sleep just fine for a week. Malek had me up at 430am this morning thinking he needed a bottle but the poor guy had wet through his diaper so I had to get up and change everything. It sucks that I only had 45 more minutes to sleep.

Well, have a great Monday!

Well, we'll (and by we I mean me as he already knows but is speaking Arabic) see if they got the visa in a few seconds... I think not because I hear a lot of "Sharaf a kelb" sounds coming from Dh.

Happy Monday MENA... I need some caffine blush.gif

I was insomniac last night as well... up at 3:30 with a racing heart, completely awake and no idea why wacko.gif called hubby and he was fine, called my parents this morning and no news, so I'm assuming it's me having a bad dream and not being able to sleep for the next 3 hrs blink.gif

Sunglass burns are no fun sad.gif I am getting hijab burns on my face haha. A headscarf burn is not hot. If I look at a PICTURE of the sun I am red.

Today my fiance gets his visa! He should be getting it right now actually smile.gif Hopefully I'll see him August 7th! smile.gif Happy Monday everyone!

It's almost back to school time! At least in the South.... I can't believe kids start back to school in just over a week. You Northerners have about a month left.

PB, sorry about your sleepless/heart racing night - hope you feel better today. Hubby's off today and we will go shopping together and then (woot! woot!) my class is on break for 2 weeks, so I don't have to teach tonight! I'm *truly* off work today!!! YAY for Monday! kicking.gif star_smile.gif good.gif

OK! Well his sister got a visa, his borther was denied. His brother hsn't told him yet what paper they gave him... so we're going to see if it's something that can be contested. They did the same thing as always-- asked his brother only one question (how much does he make) and didn't take any of his information he had-- even though we tried to stress to him he needed to show the consulor officer that he had a house, cars, money, etc. Any ideas? smile.gif

Good morning MENA. I was up too late last night and then had to be up by 5:45am for work dead.gif The inhumanity!!! Anyway, I'm just on a break. I must go aquire some coffee or I'm not going to make it, lol.

So check out this list for Lexy's kindergarten supplies............

3 boxes of 16 crayons (not large)

40 #2 pencils....SHARPENED! (methinks this teacher doesn't want to use the sharpner til October at least!)

2 40-count disenfectant wipes (like those 80 sheets will keep a group of germy kids healthy!)

15 Elmer glue sticks ( blink.gif is this the morning snack?)

2 boxes of Ziploc bags (Boys bring quart size/Girls bring sandwich size) Its always about size isnt it?

...........and the list goes on. I think she starts school the last week of August. When my kids were in school, kindergarten was like a 3 hour thing. Lexy will go from 8:30-2:30. Of course Jessica will be sitting outside the door for the first few days biggrin.gif

Today is court for the man that killed Dawn sad.gif It is at 1:30pm. Hatem called me because we thought it was at 9am. I will be at work this afternoon, so I will call him later and see how the man pleaded. I'm afraid if he pleads not guilty, that Hatem might say or do something. I am sure his brother will be there along with her family. Maybe Ryan (her brother) will come online later to give us an update.

.33 drunk.........I heard on the news the other day that .5 is legally dead drunk. He better plead guilty.
brnidokiegurl
they usually dont plead guilty unless ready to throw in the towel, by saying not guilty prolongs the case as apeals, but again he prob dont want it to go to a jury either....

Jackie - I hope they put him away and lock the key! mad.gif

First day back to work but we had an AWESOME vacation!!!! The weather pretty much sucked eggs but.............don't laugh...........I've taken up cross stitching and it's sooo fun!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif Just about every day me and the girls would sit and do our cross stitching and we had a blast!

On a side note apparently work finally upgraded us to a new office package...I think 2003? lol. I'm sooo confuzzled it's not even funny. wacko.gif wacko.gif

I pray that Dawn and Hatem get the justice that they deserve. This is such an horrific tragedy. This will also be really difficult on Hatem as the American justice system, although normally fair, can really drive someone insane. I hope he can get through all of this as best as possible. sad.gif

they always have the kids bring enough for themselves and 4 other kids to compensate for the families that weren't able to get supplies for their kids. They end up putting everybodies stuff into bins and everybody gets to pick what they want so for heavens sake don't get the pretty pencils coz she'll end up with a regular #2 and the kids before her will get her pretty ones. I don't have enough money to supply 4 kids with supplies so I get 1 package/box of each item and if he needs more, I'll buy it for him. I feel that there are enough freebie places that parents can get full supplies that there's no need for the kids to supply for everyone....thats just my 2 cents. I'd be happy to help anyone that I *knew* was struggling but don't like being FORCED to help everyone...does that make sense?

I'm at work and tired now. My head is groggy. I think I had such a sleepless night coz I was thinking of the court date for Dawns killer and of our dear Henna who is struggling right now with her loss.

I love all of you! Please take care ensha'allah

Cross stitching? Ugh, poke my eyes out with the needles! tongue.gif I'm not the crafty type...

I, too, was up in the middle of the night - from 3 to 5. I got back to sleep, but overslept and was almost an hour late for work. Maybe all our minds were racing a bit from yesterday's tragic news. sad.gif

I hope that the justice will be served - I know that it won't bring Dawn back but at least the justice system may prevernt any future tragedy. People like this need to be kept away from the roads...

My thoughts are with Hatem and his family. Please keep us posted, Jackie!

lol that's how I was as a kid...I'd have like 5 crossstitch projects that were half finished. LOL.

Most of my time was honestly spent threading the needle and tying the knots for the kiddo's every three seconds but when I did get to do my own it was awesome. My little one is working on one that says "What Happens at Grandma's Stays at Grandma's" smile.gif

Wow seems like kids go back to school early this year! I think mine go back Sep 2 so we have at least another month left and one more week of vacation for me! kicking.gif kicking.gif

dorothy, did you wake up and exercise today? Didn't think I was paying attention, huh? lol
brnidokiegurl
mine are the counted ones not the stamped on, i did christmas stocking for alot of the gkids etc, big pictures, usually get them wayyyy to hard the one im doing now is/was to be for ahmed birthday (the last one) ha maybe i can get it done by this march
Aymsgirl
I haven't even thought about cross stitching in years. I probably wouldn't be able to type at work because I would have poked my fingers until they were raw.

About the school supplies....Amal is right, you are probably buying to build up a supply. We learned this the hard way when my now 11 year old daughter was in Kindergarden. She came home crying because all of the girls in the class but she got one of her pretty Barbie Pencils and she didn't get any smelly erasers. I would buy the plain and simple stuff. Walmart usually has good sales on school supplies starting sometime soon. I also am with you Amal...I totally understand..you know the minute you don't send something in you are getting that note and then at the end of the year the kids come home saying there was so much stuff left and crayons that the teacher just threw them away!!! I never really mind helping out somebody that I know that needs help so don't get me wrong....

Hugs and prayers to Dawn's family today. I'm sure that what they will hear or see will not be the easiest for them. rose.gif

I wouldn't do it!

I am more of a California weather person - that's where I would like to move if I would ever decide to leave NY behind - I dream about that once in a while but then I wake up and I'm still here...Oh well, at least I have great friends and a job that I love so I can't really complain...

Actually, I'm a native Californian...so the humidity always gets me. I can be in the middle of Death Valley and be hot, but not hot/sticky. Here, it is so sticky and uncomfortable that the heat and humidity just penetrate you to the core.

One of my sisters lives in Ft. Laud and is sooo miserable in the summer. She even bought a generator in case they ever get hit with hurricaines like they did in the year of Katrina where she had to sweat her azz off due to no electricity.

I was telling hubby I'd love to move to Cali but then we turned on the news last night and they were talking about the fires so apparently that's off the board. lol. Whenever I daydream about where to live I always come back to North Carolina since the summer's aren't too too bad and the winters are short.

My hubby hates FL - wishes he was anywhere but here...I lived in Miami for awhile - it was so hot, but at least there was a breeze. In Tallahassee there is never a breeze in the summer, unless a storm is coming in.

And I am originally from Poland so humidity is one part of the summers in NY that I hate the most...I agree about the dry heat - I had a blast in Tucson, AZ few years back - desert sun is the best!
