Hi, I just got the news my wifes form I-130 was approved, I filed this form in june of 2008 and its july so I am super excited. I have a question as to what happens next will it be an easy process since me and my wife have been married over 6 years? Or maybe I should be not getting excited. But any info or help would be much appreciated.

Ok My wifes I-130 Got approved, I got the Reciept and The DS3032, on the form it mentions something about a IR1 no idea what that is going to look it up after I post this. I am enclosing the fee for the I-864. Time to go to the movies alone, hope my wife is able to come soon. Wish me luck!

Ok, so it's an IR1 visa. You now need to go to the National Visa Center forum and read one of the first threads called Timesavers. Read pages 1, 10 & 11 to get an understanding of what the NVC process will be like.

In summary, you will receive the DS-3032 to assign a choice of agent, the person you assign will receive all correspondence from them from now on. You will also pay the AOS bill. Once they receive both, you will get the I-864, the IV Bill and then the DS-230. When they process all of that paperwork, they will close your case and make an appointment with the embassy. She goes to the interview, gets her visa and she's all done. Since it'll be an IR1 visa, she will get her 10 year permanent green card in the mail once she arrives in the US and all you will have left is getting her SS#.

After that there is nothing more you will have to do for 10 years unless she wants to become a US Citizen.
