I filed for my wife's EAD a month ago. On a call with USCIS I was told that it now takes 90 days to get the NOA since they are way behind. so I guess this means that we are on a 180 days wait or longer????

This one of the big reasons to NOT do K-3, it may be a bit quicker than CR-1 but has the pain of dealing with USCIS for EAD and AOS.

CR-1 is not taking much longer than K-3, CR-1 costs less, CR-1 gets Green-card upon entry, CR-1 can work, get SSN and driver's license shortly after arrival. K-3 needs EAD before being able to WORK, get SSN, or Driver's license. EAD can take 90 days or more to get.

Also cost compare:
K-3:
I-130: $355
I-129F: NONE
Consulate: $131
AOS: $1010
($1496)

CR-1
I-130: $355
NVC I-864: $70
NVC Visa fee: $400 ($355+$45)
($825)

Strange. We filed I485/765/131 and got NOA-1s for all in one day, 1 week after filing. Biometrics was 1 month after filing, but we still wait for EAD and AP and interview. We sent the documents and applications off on June 16 and got the NOA-1s on the 23rd. Of course, we were originally K-1/K-2 and not K-3, though I don't know if that makes a difference for AOS.

I thought that with the increase of USCIS fees means faster processing. Boy, I am wrong!
