If an applicant for adjustment of status needs to travel outside the USA Advance Parole must be applied for while in the USA before departure from the USA.
I read on this forum that it has to be
APPROVED before you can leave the US, not just applied for. Does anybody know for sure 100%?
Hey,
I talked to someone at USCIS and read their website concerning AP. It seems that you don't need to have the AP in hand when you leave the US, but it has to however be approved before leaving the US, so that the dates of travel and dates of approval are matching.. Then, you need it on the back to have the AP that you can have sent abroad.
Best is to call USCIS to have confirmation. Better have several same answers than only one...
