My wife is from Brazil and is trying to get copies of her medical records to enroll in a community college here in Arizona. The problem is she didn't get copies of the records in Brazil, because the doctor said it wouldn't be a problem to get copies later. Well, after she handed immigration the sealed brown envelope at the POE, it seems they are lost in a black hole. She doesn't want to take all the shots again, as she took them all in Brazil before she came here (Back in March, 2006).

She was approved her perm res card at our district office here in Phoenix, so do you think they would have these records. Of course there's no phone number to call, but maybe scheduling an infopass apt could locate these records??

Why would a community college require her medical records??? This is highly personal information, and isn't any of their business? If it's just about vaccinations, could you not request the civil surgeon in the US that transferred them onto the I-693 give her a copy of that information? Maybe she didn't get that when you sent in her AOS. Another option would be she contact the Dr. in Brazil, by email or phone (if time is of the essence) and tell them that they told her it wouldn't be difficult to get a copy later...but that it is difficult, and could he please send or fax up the information to her now? I suppose you could make an INFO pass at the nearest office if all this doesn't work. Again, I don't know what if anything she has to provide, or why she has to provide anything. If it's just making sure her vaccinations are up to date, she could have a titre test? This is a blood test that would tell you what she has immunity to. It's often used when people are going for their vaccinations and need proof of what they've got vaccinations for as they've lost their records.
