Its official...lol....I went today and changed all of my documents that needed to be changed (except my passport...anyone know what I have to do for that..)

Its weird having a new last name ya know....even at the DMV...the guy asked me to sign my name for my license and I still signed my maiden name twice on accident, he kept having to clear it...something i have to get use to i guess

congrats:)

You have to send in your old passport with another application for a passport and also your certified english marriage certificate.

Congrats! I'm still only halfway changed, and I haven't bothered to change my passport yet. I might just wait until it expires in 2 years.

To change my name with the medical licensing board, I had to send in one of my $10 certified marriage certificates. I was annoyed. Everyone else will take just a photocopy tongue.gif

Enjoy your new name!

congrats on ur new name. what a pain it is to change it. i still struggle with my old name and its been almost 3 years. the other day i ordered a pizza and when they asked my name i gave them my ex name. hassan looked at me and then i caught what i did.

when u amend ur passport all they do is type on the last page of it that ur new name is..... how stupid is that.

MaryandMian
Congrats Kelly on the name change. And Angel is right they do not amend them anymore. You have to return the old one with new application and fees. I got my old one back with two holes punched in it along with my new one.

here;s a little something i posted on the old forums when i was researching passport changes

QUOTE
Ok so I am all organized to send off my Passport Amendement paperwork and download the DS-19 document, and find out its all grey color. Ok, it may sound cheap, but they want quality printouts and being that we work from home, ink gets expensive! I decided to call them at 877 487-2778 and spoke to a rep to see if she could send me a form. She indicated the website was incorrect, and the DS-19 is no longer used eff 10/2005 and the website has not been updated. They no longer amend passports.

I mean, I am quite net savy, and being that we have been dealing with immigration for a number of years, I DID DO an additional search to see if there has been any changes not reflected on the Name change page on the DOS website. Either I overlooked it, or its not there. That aside,

The outcome is that being that they no longer amend our passports, we must renew. (I can only ASSume this also will mean we will get the new chip-enhanced version) Fill out the DS-82 renewal form, send in the old passport, marriage certificate, 2 passport style photos, and a check for $67.00 made out to the Dept of State. The new address to send it to is at the bottom of the sheet (Pittsbugh, PA).

I am sure this topic has been brought up around the time of the legislation, but even as a somewhat seasoned member of VJ, searching can be a daunting task.

there was some other suggestion on the thread - you can view it here
