I think it would be a good idea to have this thread for Central America since we are such small countries, especially El Salvador, so I figured that we are under representet here at VJ. For Example, I have not found many active members going through the K-1 process at this time in El Salvador, there are past recounts but not actual ones, it makes me believe that I am the only one but this is not statistically possible. So Colombians have their posts, so do English spoken Caribbian Islands, well we can too and it is important because we have our own timelines and process.

IMO, we should keep this thread in english AND spanish, as that might be the reason why many foreign fiances do not post. And also, one of the purposes of the regional forums, is that people can post in their native language.

I understand what you're saying, it's frustrating not to be able to understand a post, but I think it is more important for a person who does not speak English fluently to be able to post his/her question and receive an answer in his/her own language, then it is for those of us who don't speak Spanish to read the post.

Your suggestion to request assistance if someone's English is weak is a good idea, but not always practical or possible in my experience.

English is the working lauguage of VJ, but regional threads should have the option to post in the language of that region, like Teresa/Eric said, so that this website can be helpful to EVERYONE. Even those who are still learning English.

Hopefully your own frustration with not understanding Spanish can give you some understanding for those who don't yet fully understand English

I'm sorry, but I disagree: It is crucial for EVERYONE to understand what is posted. Post in BOTH languages. If someone can post only in Spanish, then the respondent should have the courtesy to translate the Spanish post to English along with supplying a response. VisaJourney is a COMMUNITY, not a Tower of Babel. I can't conceive of the number of other posts on the Latin American subforum that could have been providing me ammunition in my own struggles, had I been able to read them. And, as you say, English is the working language of VJ. Let's not ARGUE about this; just DO IT in BOTH LANGUAGES.

It´s been over a month and I still have not received packet 4, I will defenetly keep you poste on this and my timeline.
Since I am on a K-1 process, I do not requiered to get the immunizations, however, I am planning to change my status after I married. Can anyone direct me to which vaccines I will need in orther to request my chance of status. I think it will be cheaper to have it done here in El Salvado, at the same time I can use my time getting everything ready, one step at the time.

Bueno ya paso mas de un mes y aun no recibo el paquete 4 con la fecha de la entrevista en la embajada, la espera me esta matando, pero el amor me hace perseverar y saber que saldre victorioso ante esta pequeña y cruel batalla al camino de mi felicidad.

Debido a que estoy aplicando para una K-1 en realidad no requiero las vacunas, sinembargo, al aplicar por un cambio de estatus al de residencia temporal una vez que me case con mi amada, necesito estas vacunas, asi que pienso inicial las vacunaciones lo antes posible. I am the USC and filed the I-130 for my husband directly with the Embassy in El Salvador. I think it is a great idea to have a Central American place so we can all band together and hold hands or wring our hands.

As for the Spanish and English question, well, I think we should all help each other out . How about someone who can only post in Spanish posts in Spanish and puts at the end to ¨TRANSLATE´and whoever views the post first and can translate can answer the post by translating it to English so we can all view it. I know I would try to help out if someone wants their questions translated. Then their respective USC partner can help them sort out the answer as a team.

My goodness this is a comprehensive list of vaccines thank you. I need to get the wheels moving, I have had many of those vaccins, however, I don´t have records since many of them I had them a long time ago as a child. I had two shots of hep. B in NY six years ago, again, no records though. I am sure that if I get immunization tests it would show but this would be more expensive than having the shots againg. I´ll consult with a physician on this subeject.

Basic idea of post above (Idea en general de el post arriba): It makes sense to have the Central American thread in Spanish as much as possible, and the English-only posts on this thread should also be translated into into Spanish as well. Many people on this forum can read English but when it comes to writing it is very difficult and they should also have the right to post questions and receive info, since most of the info on VJ is in English already, they have the hardest time finding info and asking questions.

Holiday Schedule of the American Embassy in El Salvador:

Keep this in mind, the Amerian Embassy will be closed from Monday August 4, to Wednesday August 6, due to San Salvador city holiday celebration. I used to enjoy this national festivities but I am not so sure anymore, especially when my visa is delayed. Anyway, have fun my friends.

Recuerden que la Embajada Americana estara cerrada por motivos de las vacaciones de Agosto, desde el Lunes 4, hasta el Miercoles 6 de Agosto. Se Renuevan actividades el Jueves 7 de Agosto. Esto significa unos dias mas de atraso para procesar nuestras visas, no es la gran cosa desde luego. Bueno, mientras tanto a celebrar nuestras merecidas vacaciones.

Thanks to everyone for keeping things bilingual. I feel much closer to the Spanish-speakers because people are helping me understand what they're saying. And, apologies that I cannot translate these sentences into Spanish myself! Mi disculpa (is that correct?).

Another benefit of people providing translations within their messages is that I can learn at least some vocabulary, and perhaps grammar also, by comparing the English text with the Spanish. Perhaps this will work in the other direction, too.

I agree, this is a good english-spanish excercise for all of us! The best advice I can give to those learning another language is to watch T.V. and hear lots of music on that language, that really helps.

hola a todo el foro como estan? pues bueno parece que no nos pondremos de acuerdo entre si español o ingles o que tal spanglish, jajajaja, en fin lo que si seria genial es que todo el que escriba en ingles lo haga traducido al español, por lo mismo que les digo que hay mucha gente que no participa porque no entiende nada del idioma, obviamente somos los beneficiarios de las visas los que podemos estar en este problema y que de alguna manera queremos ser parte activa del proceso, asi que a usar los 2 idiomas, porque como les decia antes, la gente que habla y escribe ingles tiene muchos foros aqui para obtener informacion, y ademas estan los foros colombianos o venezolanos pero ellos se entienden entre si porque hablan de sus paises con las direcciones y modismos que ellos tienen, y uno al leerlos se queda en la luna, asi que este foro no saben cuanto me alegra y felicididades a SINPISTO que pudo obtener respuesta.

Apenas inicias el proceso, has dado el primer paso y ahora toca seguir el proceso con paciencia y firmeza.

Te cuento de mi experiencia, ya llevo seis meses en esto y me esperaba un tiempo de espera mucho mas corto. Pero la realiadad me ha abierto los ojos, y al ver las estadisticas de otros miembros que han pasado por este proceso en El Salvador, me faltan todavia tres meses de espera para obtener la entrevista con el consul. Asi que, ahora veo las cosas de forma diferente y pienso que la k-1 puede demorar de 9 a 12 meses, desde que inicias todo el proceso.

Este tiempo de espera, tambien lo veo como una prueba mas del amor de dos personas que han hecho un pacto, un compromiso (a pledge) de unirse en matrimonio, asi que unos seis a doce meses de espera, no son prueba para un verdadero amor. te lo digo, pues estoy separado de mi amada, yo en El Savador y ella donde esta. Nos hablamos dos o tres veces al dia, pero no es lo mismo a estar fisicamente juntos, sin embargo, lo dificil que es para mi, lo tomo dia a dia, con paciencia esperando.

Bueno, ventile un poco mi frustracion, pero de eso se trata.

OK my friends, I just vented my frustration about what it seems to me like a very long process, eventhought, this depends on the optic of the espectator that sees the view. This is nothing compared to green card holders who want to united their families, five to six year wait. Unheard of to me, unaceptable, unbelieveble, but they wait for their time, one day at the time, one month, one year, and finally, the family is reunited. Cruel but real.

Tienes razon, apenas y estoy empezando este largo proceso, pero sabes que segun he leido las experencias de los que ya tienen sus visas o van mas adelante, el NOA 1 les ha llegado no mas tarde de un par de semanas, en mi caso nisiquiera han avisado que recibieron nadaaaaa, y pues me pone en que pensar, espero que no hayamos cometido ningun error, pues lo hicimos solos sin la ayuda de un abogado, mas que con las experiencias y consejos de este foro y de otro que hay parecido en univision, y claro Teresa me oriento como no tienes idea, y sobretodo que era lo que hablabamos el que te sientas ayudado e identificado con tu gente, sabes que yo mas o menos pense que la espera era lo mas de 8 meses, pero viendo como va la cosa de lenta sera como tu dices de 9 a 12, lo cual desespera mas, porque se supone que la visa esta es la rapidez con que la que te la otorgan el mayor atractivo, porque de saber que sera tannn largo mejor se casa uno en el pais con el prometido y te vas con la k-3 , ademas que despues el AOS es mas barato, en fin se que tenemos que tener mucha paciencia, y esto es solo una prueba mas, yo tengo una amiga mia muy querida que vive en el salvador, y vendra a visitarme para las fiestas agostinas, asi que ya ven de una u otra manera estamos unidos los centroamericanos.... gracias por la bienvenida!!!

Si me parece extraño que no hayas recibido el NOA-1 todavia. Si existe un error, ellos te mandaran una carta indicandote. Asi nos paso a nosotros pues mandamos la aplicacion pero no incluimos el cheque (fue un atraso de un mes).

Puedes revizar si el cheque ya fue cobrado, lo que indica que tu caso ya se inicio.

Por otro lado, tengo un chuchito y se llama Eros, es medio Aguacatero el bandido, pero muy cariñoso y obediente. Tambien le gusta comer pupusas de chicharron.

pues ese es el detalle segun ellos recibieron el paquete el dia 7 de julio, pero eso lo sabemos por la fecha que el correo nos dio, pero de alli para aca nadaaaaa, no han cobrado , no han enviado nada diciendo que ya tienen la peticion , se estan tardando tanto ahora??? de ser asi, sera que en diciembre recibiremos el NOA 2 y a mediados del proximo año la entrevista aqui en Guatemala, en fin pacienciaaaa es lo que se nos esta acabando y no se donde comprar mas, jajajajaja, leia lo de tu chuchito, aqui tambien le decimos chucho a los perros, pero tambien a una comida tipica del pais, que es como un tamal pero mas redondo relleno igual de carne, pero envuelto no en hoja de tamal tradicional sino en hoja de tusa (una amarilla), me alegro que el foro siga creciendo, en la union esta la fuerza dicen por alli.... asi que a seguir adelante!!

No te preocupa, Jokalu, de la NOA1. Dice en muchos timelines que le recibieron la gente 2 o 3 semanas despues de enviar la peticion, pero la mayoria ponen la fecha que dice en la NOA1, NO la fecha que le recibieron. Por ejemplo, en mi timeline dice que reciebi mi NOA1 en 3 semanas, pero puse la fecha en la NOA1, y en realidad duro mas para recibirla.

Jokalu is worried because she still hasn't received her NOA1 and I wrote that in their timelines, most people write the date that is on their NOA1, not the actual date they received it, so it can be a bit misleading. For example, I didn't receive mine ACTUALLY in the mail, until about 2 weeks after the date I put on my timeline, cause that is the date it says on the NOA1.

No te preocupes Karen, ya tienen rato de estarse tardando un mes o más para el NOA1, especialmente en el CSC. El de nosotros también se tardó casi un mes. Yo estaba precoupada porque como leía que otros decían 10 o 15 días pero, la verdad es que si se tarda más.

Si tu novio pagó con cheque cuando mire que lo cambiaron, creo que puede ver en el cheque el número del caso y crear el usuario en la página del USCIS usando ese número.

Vas a ver que el día que menos lo esperés ya van a recibir el NOA1!

Y sigo con la preguntadera....... he leido que tambien te envian notificaciones via e-mail, es cierto eso? y que envian , el NOA1 el NOA2 o que cosa? alguien tiene alguna experiencia en esto? graciass!!

El NOA1 sólo llega la notifiación por correo físico, no mandan notificación por e-mail. El NOA2 llega por e-mail al peticionario y llega también el "notice" que creo que es el I-797 ese hay que guardarlo muy bien porque hay que presentarlo para el AOS y si se pierde la reposición cuesta como $350.00

Cuando ya tengás tu NOA1 vas a hacer tu usuario en el website del USCIS y cuando esté aprobado podés verlo ahí también.

Hola Skyler, I don´t think that your fiance will need to bring the actual NOA2 to the interview. It was not listed as s requier document on the letter that I recevied from the embassy on the packet 3. Just to be on the safe side, my GF faxed me the NOA1 and NOA2 which I will take to the interview. Perhaps more experienced VJ members can elaborate on this issue.

Es caro mandar documentos a El Salvador, estoy esperando un paquete con documentos que mi novia me envio por USPS el 12 de Julio y todavia no los he recibido. Ella los queria mandar por DHL pero la persuadi de que utilizara el US postal Service. Les informo cuando reciba estos documentos solo para que tengan una idea de cuanto tiempo lleva.

Porque hable con una amiga aca que me dijo que ella tambien uso USPS y duro 3 meses a recibir los documentos!! Y ella pago $50. Por eso yo uso UPS or FedEx. Cuesta $70 cada paquete, $20 mas, pero creo que vale la pena, porque llega en 3-5 dias.

Gracias por la informacion de la NOA2, quizaz mi mami peuda enviarla por fax, si no neciesito el original, es mas barato. Pero sabes de el documento que menciono Teresa? El I-797? Ya tienes el tuyo? Lo que llamamos en VJ NOA2, en realidad se llama I-797 Notice of Action, que es la notificación de la aprobación de la petición.

El NOA2 (I-797) Vas a necesitarlo en original para cuando apliquen para el AOS (Adjustment of Status) después de haberse casado en U.S.A. Para la entrevista en El Salvador, no lo necesitás, la Embajada tiene copia de todo tu file. Pero sería bueno que tuvieras una copia contigo por cualquier cosa, talvez tu mamá lo puede escanear y mandártelo por email.

What we call NOA2 here in VJ is actually called I-797, Notice of Action, which is the notice of approval of the petition.

You'll need the original NOA2 (I-797) by the time you guys apply for AOS after marriage in the U.S. You wont need it for the interview at the Embassy, the Embassy will already have your complete file by the time of the interview. But it would be a good idea if you could have a copy of the NOA2 for the interview, just in case. Maybe your mom can scan it and send it to you through email.

Ah-Hah!!! Thanks! I didn't know it was the NOA2. So it sounds like it will be much better to have my mm fax me a copy, but SAVE the original NOA2 (I-797) in the States since that is where we will be doing the AOS. It would probably be safe coming here through FedEx, but if it's unnecessary, much better to leave it safe at home in a drawer, and save the money.

De veras?? Gracias! No sabia que el I-797 es la NOA2. Entonces, mejor tener a mi mami mandarme una copia, pero guardar el original en EEUU porque alla haceremos el AOS. Me imagino que todo estara bien con FedEx, pero si no es necesario, mejor lo dejo en casa, y tambien guardo el dinero.
